any theories on a single worldwide launch date?

after the utter chaos of last year. especially here anyway (UK)
does anyone have any thoughts on whether apple will try a single launch day, or will stagger the releases in different countries to cope with demand, and the server problems of last year ?
i know a lot of these problems were caused by mobile me, but it took 2 weeks for someone i know to finally get their Iphone activated.
