From what I'm reading, on TB controller pricing... TB isn't going anywhere except a niche market as it's implemented now.

FYI, I just ordered a set of USB3 stuff (a Express Card, a 4 port hub, a HDD dock and an extra cable... all USB3) for $43 shipped here in China (on a trip here)... a single TB controller is worth more than this whole set I bought (most sources are suggesting $50 point)...

Why pay perhaps triple the price for TB when USB3 offers half the speed and cheaper accessories all around?

Complaining about a standard that just got implemented vs. one that's been around for 2 years is a bit silly. What is "better" now will not always be "better" in the future.

I am saying this because this seems like Firewire400 all over again. And it was so much faster than USB1.1 vs today TB is only twice USB3.0. But due to FW400 price, it was impossible to use it in small accessories such as joystick, mouse, webcam... etc.

As TB goes down in price, so will USB3... USB 3 has the advantage of incorporating everything from little mouse, fan or toy rocket launchers... (they were awesome btw).. :p

TB will never be on top of USB3 for this reason. And the fact that it is so much more expensive than USB solutions right now doesn't help at all either.

At least give us a thunderbolt to USB 3.0 adapter....PLEASE!

So if that was available, would the machine then lose the Displayport out, or is this like SCSI were every device has a passthrough?

Personally I'd rather have an external monitor than a faster external hard drive. 1394b is fine with me.
