Brand new to owning an Apple Watch: I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and purchased an Apple Watch Series 4, 44mm. They pair just fine and are both connected. I love both devices and their battery life and functionality. However, I can't seem to get the watch to take an update. It doesn't matter if I reboot the watch or phone, un-pair and re-pair, it always fails the update. Anyone have any advice on getting this to go through? The watch is at 100% battery life, on the charger and on the same WiFi as my Phone.
 
I bought a new stainless Apple Watch 5 today. I have an iPhone X On 13.3. The watch came with 6.0. I also can’t update to 6.1.1. I called support and was elevated up the chain three levels of support. We did everything from unpairing to resetting everything. Nothing worked. He said take it back to the store tomorrow for replacement. It doesn’t Make sense to me that the watch is defective, but??
anyone else run into this?
 
Also cant update to 6.1.1 last week it worked fine. There are also reports in a German forum.
 
@Tom899 and @nill1234 here is how I got mine to update:
  1. Download iOS Developer Beta for iPhone
  2. Install it on your phone
  3. Download WatchOS Beta your phone
  4. Install it on your watch via your phone
That got it to update for me nut obviously I am on a developer beta now.

Any chance you can link the source? Or it was just a normal user saying they told Apple and they are working on it? I am not sure if this was an official statement or not.
 
Just a user that had contact with apple and before that tried it with support at an official reseller store
