None whatsoever.

We’re likely at least 9 months away from an announcement (Aug/Sept 2021).

But hey, would be a great surprise for WWDC in June

According to the buyers guide on this site, it shows "Do Not Buy" the 16, upgrade imminent....

It does probably after the recent rumour and also it is due new CPU’s.

However I think it will hobble along until June WWDC where real ‘pro’ machines get announced.

I really love the new direction, but for my business I dont believe the M1 isn’t close to cutting it [will be testing the new 13” MBP however in the next week or so and then make a decision].

I expect next year we get the M2 series which will include a version similar to what we are seeing in the M1 and a, say, an "X version where the CPU will have more performance cores and the GPU will also have more cores, plus more cache and the needed comtrollers for 4 USB-4 ports.

I think we could see a 24" M1 iMac in the spring and a larger iMac, iMac Pro and 16" MBP in the fall of 2021. But whether they will be an M2, pack more cores, or have a discrete Apple GPU remains to be seen.

Almost certainly next year. I'm just deciding what to do because I need a machine. Like will it be Spring 2021? Summer? Fall? Ugh.

If I had to guess it would be spring 2021 before any new Apple Silicon Macs are released. I think they want these base model Macs to have more time in the wild to sort out bugs before they release any true Pro models.

There is a caution on buying any new mac that isn’t already equipped with Apple silicon. This is just common sense.
If you need a new machine, I would buy now as there is unlikely to be a new 16” released before at least wwdc next year. If you don’t need it yet then definitely wait until you know more about the potential of the more pro versions of the m1.

As others have said highly unlikely that Apple will release a 16" AS MBP until next year. It would have been announced when the Low End AS Macs were announced, and given Apple has extended the return period on any device purchased until January if they did release a 16" before then, they are likely to have a lot of returns on their hands.

I can't see a 16" being that far off, Bloomberg even reported that it could have launched at the last event but wasn't quite far enough along. But definitely not this year, I'd say somewhere between March (Apple hasn't held an event earlier than this in the year since 2011) and June (including possibly launching at WWDC)

Yep my guess would be the same. If Apple was ready I suspect they will be pushing to release as soon as they can, as I suspect Intel Mac Notebook sales are tanking around now.

To be honest, I am a bit sceptical about expecting a second generation so soon. M1 has significant performance lead, easily will stay competitive for some time. Look at iPads currently, their X version of a chip is rather every second cycle. I would expect that even longer with M- chips. I think before we see a second generation, first we can expect the beefier M1X for Macbooks Pro in mid 2021. M2 will only come around the reveal of special chip for Macs Pro (X1?) in 2022.

They can't keep up with the demand for the recent release. I expect something next year but no clue on time frame. I'd think that we'd get leaks on performance before they come out.
