I have an iCloud Family Account for myself, my wife, and our two kids. We want to share the apps, movies, etc., but when it comes to the family calendar, it's causing issues. We stuff on there that's not particularly relevant to the kids, and they keep adding even weirder stuff that keeps popping up on our iPhones. I know we can add a separate shared calendar for the two of us, but they still keep adding stuff that shows up on ours, even with the calendar 'hidden', we still get notifications. Is there any way to disable it completely on a given device?

I don't think you can get rid of it but if you click the red circle "i" under Calendars in the Calendar app you can set permissions so that the kids can't edit it.
