Is there an app I can install that hides or redirects text messages to something other than my iMessage inbox? My ex keeps accessing my messages on my iPhone and I'm tired of her reading texts that are now private. I found some apps but all I see are the ones that give me a private number to use. I want to use my own number but if my ex gets ahold of my iPhone, I don't want her being able to read sensitive messages.

I know this doesn't answer what your asking, but the obvious question is why isn't your phone passcode/fingerprint locked?

It is, but my daughter uses my phone for Netflix and YouTube and when my ex is around, she potentially has access to my unlocked phone.

Wow. Your ex will actually take advantage of your daughter using the phone just so she can snoop your messages? That's pretty messed up!

I'm afraid I don't know of any way to hide your messages. Maybe you should find a cheap iPod Touch or iPad for your daughter, and keep your phone to yourself.

Yea unfortunately money is super tight right now.

Used to have bitesms installed on jailbroken iPhones only.
You could password protect the message app.
You could mute certain conversations so when messages came in the phone didn't ding. They were just delivered inside the conversation and it didn't even display a number on the messages app.
Unfortunately on stock iOS you cannot hide or additionally lock it separately.

Out of curiosity - I just tried this - and it works great.

OP - only thing I can tell though is that you can only let your daughter use one app. She can't switch between Netflix and Youtube. Might not be ideal - but - is perfect for locking a person into just one app - and keeping all private apps safe.

This! ^^^ Problem solved.

Maybe you and your ex should make this slit official and move apart.

Can you somehow use Guided Access to restrict things as you wish?

Very good suggestions, completely forgot about it.

There’s also 'restrictions', allowing you to setup an iOS device w/restricted access (kids on iPhone or iPod and you don’t want 'em on YouTube or safari, your choice.
Easy to turn on and off and accessible via unique password.

Bit of a Freudian slip methinks...

Guided access seems like a pretty good idea, don't know whether an app like Telegram would allow for that sort of control as well? Though others would probably have to use it too (I don't know anything about it however)

Hmm ok. I'll look into it. Thanks.

You mentioned money being tight, so how about a dedicated Amazon Fire tablet for your daughter instead. You could probably pick one up for very little money ($25 or less). Just a thought.

Sounds like you're going through a lot right now. I hope it all works out. Hang in there.
Much appreciated. Thank you.

As mentioned, a cheap kindle fire would be perfect for your daughter (they even make a kids edition). And you would be the best day ever!

edit: And you would be the best dad ever!
