I've ordered many products directly from Apple before (during the back to school promotions) but I would like to order one tax free, discounted + free overnight shipping. Im about to pull the trigger on a 17", if I can't order the 15" high res from Amazon.

Anyone been able to find it in their systems? Or is it a custom order only?

No, the high res is a custom option, so you have to order it through Apple

That is a 17" model. farmermac is looking for a hi-res 15" from Amazon. I doubt Amazon will sell a custom option (wish they did too).

I found other sites that sell these custom 15" MBPs (powermax or macconnection), but I don't know the reputations of these vendors.

The only reason B&H has is because they order custom configurations that they think their customers will want; so in the end it's still a custom configuration.

Uhh, I know...was part of the joke, i.e. a high resolution MBP is available from AMZN and it's 1900 x 1200. Ah, nevermind...
