Any way to prevent files, when decompressed/unzipped from stacking on each other?

On my desktop when I open up a .zip file it puts the folder right on top o the .zip icon... is there a way to prevent this?

You could enable "Snap to grid" in the View Options of your Desktop (CMD+SHIFT+J).

Just checked and it's already enabled... only seems to work when I physically move a file around, then it'll snap to the grid, but not when I extract files.

I do this currently but when working with a large amount of .zip files it's becoming annoying

go here: HD>System>CoreServices. find ArchiveUtility, open it. in preferences, set it to delete archive after expanding (there are some other useful options as well)...

am actually amazed it's not an easily-accessible option. lots of friends have desktops littered with old zip files...
