Any way to remap function keys?

So I've been using the M1 MBA for about a week now and while I like almost everything about it I find myself really missing the physical keys for controlling the backlight keyboard brightness. Why Apple thought replacing them with Searchlight, Dictation and Privacy is beyond me, but I was wondering if there is a way to remap those keys to different functions. I did some googling and found several apps that seem to offer this but I was hoping there was a tweak somewhere in settings I just couldn't happen to find.
