Make sure you take into account taxes, customs and duty fees, etc. when considering whether this is really any cheaper.

well... obviously... all 3D from 2D sources (e.g. computer/television screen) is an illusion.
It seems obvious to me that the technology will become commonplace when it is ready. For example, the Time Machine window (where the previous backups disappear into the distance) is naturally suited to being displayed in 3D. The older a backup is, the further away from the user it appears to be.
Does no-one remember the "Unix" operating system from Jurassic Park?! 😀
They don't even support Blu-Ray at all and you're looking for 3D?
I have a few 3D Blu-Rays which I play on a HTPC on a 3D plasma. Apple no longer seems to worry about high end media consumption like that.

First of all, you're completely wrong on Blu-Ray players and DRM. The players do not "phone home" to make sure the disc is legal, online service is entirely optional, and is used to download extras and online content. You can watch a movie just fine with no internet service.
Secondly, the garbage you download on iTunes is infested with DRM and of course the computer or device playing it has to be authorized by Apple through your iTunes account. There's your Big Brother right there!

Yeah, this is going to be a part of the complete 2012 iMac redesign that Apple is planning.
Aside from 3D without glasses, the iMac will also come in goofy but cool colors so you can clearly identify that it's an iMac from as far as the next galaxy. It will also incorporate EVERY patent that Apple has ever filed. It will have a touch screen. It will not have bezel and the screen will bleed to the edges and will be 1 nanometer thick! Heck, I've even heard official word that Apple will just sell you the iMac in a spray can so you can spray it on ANY surface! Woah.... 😱

who said i have a itunes account thats 😱libel and slander i do not download music or films at all , i am still able to buy cd's and dvd's and i know how to rip and i dont even have a single mp3 file on my Mac , i prefer Flac 😉

Well, depending on which country you are shipping to, there may also be customs and duty fees before the shipment is released to you. When these are included, you may find that it would've been cheaper to buy at home rather than abroad.

That's the short-term solution they have planned for release in three weeks.
The long-term solution that was revealed to me is that Apple has figured out a way to compress the computer itself into a spray can so you can spray the iMac on any surface, even used toilet paper! You'll be able to throw it away when you're done and you don't have to worry about your data because it will be saved in the cloud. That's what the NC data center is for.
Then there's the longer-term solution... By or before the end of the year, Apple will release the next generation of computing and storage solutions. Instead of a spray can, Apple has figured out a way to store the computer in a pocket of another dimension called, dimension-1D10T. They will also market this dimension to pack-rats and will revolutionize the art of never throwing anything away. Of course they don't want to make the inhabitants of this other realm mad, so Steve Jobs is over there now (medical leave is just a cover, shhhhhh!!!) making a deal with their leader, Cthulhu, to allow us to use the dimension.

What is the country you live in? You never say which one.
Depending on the technology export agreements between the US and whatever country you live in your relative may not be able to buy and export (that's really what he'd be doing) the computer to you. There are certain restrictions on exporting computer tech between the US and some other countries.
In short you may run into a whole lot of legal problems doing what you want to do. Not to mention Applecare or warranty work may not be a possibility this way.

well i am typing from the MBP i bought from ebay 2 years ago.
and it works fine,no need for warranty.

Kuwait may not be a problem - your US relative would have to check with the embassy here as well as the US State department to make sure. Dealing with Apple direct would take care of these problems. Then again, as people here have said, there's also import duties and taxes you'll have to pay.
And with the recent spate of explosive devices being shipped or trying to be shipped between countries it's even harder for individuals to ship stuff between countries. Not an area an amateur should tread lightly.
As far as Applecare and warranty - it's really good to have them particularly as you're looking at an iMac which has a history of problems. You only have to search here and other places online to see what I'm talking about. Screen issues are the biggest problem. Just because you got lucky with a Mac laptop doesn't mean you'll get lucky with an iMac as far as it working with no problems.
