That's the only evidence that remains on my 3G iPhone (evidence of JB iPhone), or is the easier fix to just change from the international keyboard to another keyboard. Going to fw 2.2.1 still showed emoji keyboard, yet nothing on my Winterboard/Springboard, so the normal management tools of uninstalling or reinstalling is not available...

Im pretty sure that you can get emoji without jailbreaking. So I don't think this counts as evidence.

I was on the forefront of the emoji JB, so being one of the first to actually download it and get it up and running, I missed out on the opportunity to get the non-hack emoji. So now, I'm left with a JB iPhone with emoji still lingering even after a DFU/restore from a new iPhone...

The reason why the availibity of the emoji icons persists after a firmware restore even without re-jailbreaking is because all it takes to enable emoji is to add a key to the com.apple.Preferences.plist, and if you restored a (emoji enabled) backup to your iPhone, that .plist file also gets restored.

In your scenario what you can do is re-jailbreak and delete the KeyboardEmojiEverywhere key from the com.apple.Preferences.plist, create a new backup, restore your firmware and then restore your new backup. You'll then have no trace of emoji.

On the other hand, you could save yourself all the trouble and just forget about it. :D

PS: emoji is not an application. ;)

That explains everything I need to know. Thanks, I'm making a copy of your post for future removal, b/c I'm enjoying emoji (JB) in its present state...

Can't you just go into Keyboard preferences, then Japanese then disable Emoji from there?

That's what I'd do. I doubt Apple would think to look that deep for JB evidence.
