Any worthy alternatives to the new ATV (4K)?

I've been buying Apple products since 2012. I bought the iPAD 4, two Pros 9.7, now the 10.5, the Airpods, ATV 4th gen, covers, etc. Haven't considered similar alternatives until now - I am selling my ATV 4 and thinking of buying the new 4K model.

The price is not a factor for me to decide if I should buy any product, despite the fact ALL Apple products are expensive. However, considering some limitations such as these:

I've been thinking if I should buy this new ATV once the old I have (4th gen.) is sold. In terms of features (putting aside the rest mentioned before) would you say this is the best choice as of today? This question may be unusual to be asked here (since this is an Apple forum), the thing is: I don't really know if the ATV (4K) is better or just another option in the market.

I've read this about five times, and I have no idea what you're saying? You're referencing five year old articles, and a rant on Apple forums (by you?). If you have the 4, you know what you're getting with the 4K (slightly faster and 4K movies/apps) - sounds like you don't like the Apple Ecosystem, so you can try the Fire TV or the Nvidia Shield. Sign up to Movies Anywhere and you can access you digital movie library

You talk about the ATV4k like it invented the 4k market. If anything it's late to the game. My go to device is the Nvidia Shield. You can also look at roku, fire tv or the latest chromecast. That's just some of the options out there.

Based on not knowing your viewing intentions - maybe

Based on everything else you’ve told us - maybe.
Based on me being a complete dlck in this post - a definite recommendation buy for you
