Im finding on the new MacBooks dark mode really makes texts with pure black background impossible to read white text. It strains my eyes big time . Macrumours isn't too bad because they don't use pure black backgrounds, but if you have dark mode on in apple news I find it nearly impossible to read. This happens on my iPhone 13 pro but not nearly as bad. I was reading that font smoothing can help but I can't find the setting for that . It sucks cause I love dark mode in theory but I can't keep it on for more than a few hours until I need to keep on putting in eye strain eyedrops .

Anybody else have this problem ?

It's maybe because of the the dimming algorithm which is lowering the brightness to much on dark backgrounds, for avoiding high amount of blooming. Sadly you cant disable fald on this mbp 2021.

I have this problem with dark mode since it was introduced.
on all devices.
I think some of us, simply cannot use this mode. All of my colleagues use dark mode and find it better for eyes than the light one...but I do not.

Yeah, I also find the text very straining in dark mode as well. I think this would be fine on OLED maybe something to do with the panel technology...
