Hi updated to the GM yesterday after the event on my series 5, battery seemed ok yesterday but I figured it was indexing and doing some other stuff, but I charged it before going to bed (I track my sleep with sleep cycle) and this morning the battery was down to 75%, it usually is around 90% in the morning. I changed it again while taking a shower and by noon (right now) it should be around the 80’s in a normal day but its 71% right now :s

Has anyone else noticed this?

I also updated my iPhone and iPad and they seem to be draining at a normal rate now

It’s been live under a day. How can you reasonably expect data on this?

I’m not expecting data, just wondering if anyone else noticed a difference too. As I said my phone and iPad seem to have gotten back to a normal drain this morning, but I did noticed the watch draining a bit faster.

My Series 4 is having an awful battery drain since yesterday when I updated to watchOS 7 GM. I’m losing more than 15% per hour doing nothing. I did the unpair and re-pair routine 4 times and setup as new the last time and nothing! And now I can’t even unlock my Mac with the watch...

Have you rebooted the watch yet? I’ve not installed the GM yet but I’ve encountered the same behaviour after a previous update, a reboot fixed it.

I did, I tried a regular shut down and force restart, it’s down to 48% now, at this rate I doubt I’ll be able to get through the day or even the workout I had planned after work.

I hope it settles down on the next days

It sucks you’re having the same issue, and thanks for the heads up with re-pairing it it was my next move if it was still draining as fast tomorrow :/ hopefully it’ll settle down

Hmm I had direct effect after the reboot, hopefully it still settles down. I had planned on updating today but hearing this I will wait a bit.

Yeah maybe hold out, I’ll keep updating and see if it gets any better

Two suggestions:

#1 - remember your phone has to be on iOS14 before WatchOS 7 will show up as an option.

#2 - consider waiting for a 14.0.1 / 7.0.1 release before upgrading. :)

I’m already on 14.0 GM since I was doing the public beta all along. I’ll wait to update the watch until 7.0.1 though. Thanks for the tip. :)

I realized that I lose battery for just using the phone. The watch battery was at 16%, and I picked up my iPhone to check some notifications while it was charging, and I could see the watch battery goes from 16% to 11% in less than a minute. It was at 16% for some time while the iPhone was charging, as I mentioned. I don’t know what could be causing this...

Update: it only took 10h of less than average use to get the low power alert

Just like mine. I think I’ll restore the phone to see if it works.

Please let me know how that works out, that would be my absolute last option as I really hate having to restore the phone, and it’s actually working great on iOS 14

it will take about 36 - 48 hours for the watch to settle back down after a major update. You are going to see shorter battery life right now. That is SOP for the watch.

I hope you’re right, I’ve been using the watch since the original came out and I’ve never had a drain so bad after updating before (6 was bad but not this bad)

Do you think that’s normal? The drainage is huge!

Yea, that is not typical. You could have had a lot of background processes going on that contributed to the battery issue. If it is still acting up in 24hrs, wipe and install the OS as new.

Edited to add: Get off the beta. That will help.

Yeah I got rid of the beta profile as soon as the gm was installed, and it’s been over 24h now. It wasn’t that bad yesterday, I only started to notice this morning after waking up :/ and then topped it off again and put it on at around 8:15 and by 18:13 it gave the low power alert. I’ll wipe it if it’s still bad tomorrow and let you know
