Before you comment, Yep max is better because it’s bigger, as bigger is always better. We agree on that front. As a matter of fact, I think many of you will argue that no size is too big lol.

However, I upgrade my phone every year and for this year I’m trying the non-max pro version. My reasons for this is because I have lately found my phone (12 pro max) to be a little too uncomfortable at times due it’s sheer size. My fingers sometimes crank when doing slot of texting and scrolling, and lately I’m feeling just getting a smaller, more compact phone. Bigger devices are available in the forms of iPad and MacBook, so I’ll try it out and see how I get on :). But yes, the max is by far the superior version.

Anyone else doing the same?

I'm actually doing the opposite (12P to 13PM) but I have done the other move too (6S+ to X). I tend to go back and forth. The "regular" size is still plenty big, and I think you'll be quite pleased with it.

I am curious OP how you arrived at the consensus that the max is ‘far superior’? Are you basing this solely on a larger screen with longer battery life? Unlike previous years, there are no other differences between the pro models. So anyone wanting a lighter, more portable device could argue the ‘superiority’ of the max.

In my opinion, absolutely. Better battery life by it’s self makes it a far superior choice, but as I said a bigger screen is better too. More real estate, more content. Just doesn’t suit everyone’s needs due to hand size, fatigue and comfort.

It’s all personal preference and most of us have tried multiple sizes over the years I guess. Personally, I’ll pick a mini next time around, or something in that size region, whatever they call it then.

Bigger isn’t always better, but it’s always bigger - that we can probably agree on. ;)

That’s fair, you are more than entitled to your opinion. Albeit it is simply that, as the view of those things is purely subjective. If one doesn’t need the extra battery life, then it’s not a superior choice due to that. If one doesn’t care for a larger screen, then it’s not superior for that reason either. I’m 6’8 so wielding the max one handed is nothing. But I wouldn’t make a blanket statement that it’s the ‘superior’ device.

Just because something is bigger definitely doesn’t mean it’s superior, especially this year when there are no other differences besides screen real estate and battery size. It depends on what you need it for.

If you mean superior as in a bigger flex, showing the world you have the most expensive iPhone, then sure I guess, but then I’d say you need to get your priorities straight.

Been using max devices since the 6+ and am finally going to downsize from the 12PM to the 13P. My phone is no longer my main device for media consumption and I value portability considering my active lifestyle.

After having a Plus sized phone since they've been introduced (and except the iPhone X), I think I am going to the Pro. I think I'm over the oversized phone. It's a minor annoyance reaching for stuff.

I think the OP is looking at "superior" in terms of specs, whereas you're talking about "suitability" for individual needs.

Well, obviously he didn't mean that since he's not going with the Max ;)

That could be. But I don’t see a larger screen equating to a spec. Heck, the smaller pro has a higher ppi (granted by a whopping 2) but that I consider a speck. Yes, the battery is certainly a better speck. I guess I struggle with hanging my hat on that for superiority.

I got the 12 PM mainly to get the better camera. I decided to get the 13 pro this time. I wasn’t even going to upgrade, but Best Buy is having such a good trade in deal that I changed my mind.

Oddly I kinda wish they would either just do a small size bump on the Pro or put an inbetween size. Haha. I think the max is too big, at least for me. But at the same time I wouldn't mind something a little larger than what i have.

Yep! Went from 12 Pro Max to 13 Pro due to the size. Here’s the kicker…I’m seriously considering going all the way down to the Mini. Tried it out for a few days and I loved it. Just a little nervous about committing to it for at least a year. Either way, definitely not missing the Max at all as of right now.

I went from the 12PM to the 13Pro for several reasons:
1. Small hands - 13 Pro fits my hand better especially one handed.
2. Fits into my back jeans pocket much better.
3. Weighs less - okay not my much but for me, it feels better.

I originally bought a 12Pro and decided I wanted the 12PM so I gave the 12Pro to my husband. Every time I had to update his phone or fix something he messed up I really found I was missing the smaller size.

I won't do the Mini - too small. I have to zoom my screen and enlarge the text on my 13Pro now so my old eyes can see the screen print.

I've always been a Max user despite having small hands because I just loved the big screen + the Max model had better camera features. Decided to go from 12PM to 13 Pro yesterday since there was a bunch of stock at Best Buys around me while the 13PM is still on backorder (too impatient). And honestly, I love the size right now! It's actually really nice to be able to grip the phone in one hand and type/reach for control center. Now I just hope the battery life is better or on par with my 12PM as advertised as right now it's too early to tell.

I started big with the 7+ then 8+, XS Max, 11 Pro Max, skipped the 12 all together and went 13 Pro this time around.

My wife had an X and now an 11 Pro and I just didn’t care for the 5.8 screen since I was used to the larger size and Apple always left all the good features for the + or Max models.

Now that the 12/13 Pro’s were upped to 6.1 and the 13 Pro is identical to the PM except for screen and battery size I figured I’d give the smaller one a try this time around and I’m actually quite happy I made the switch.

I like that both pro models are an even playing field now and it really just comes down to people’s preference on size and there’s really no wrong answer.

I'm still debating whether to keep the 13 PM or try the 13 pro. While I like the size and battery life, it doesn't fit that well in my pocket. Last year I went with the 12 PM because it had the better camera but this year they are the same.
