The True North, Strong and Free
I just picked up a series 5 44mm in gold aluminum. I expected it to be gold, like the pictures on Apple's website, but it is far more rosy/pink/coppery than those in real life, in natural light. My wife saw a 40mm in store and said it was not like that, just regular gold tone. Under warm lights at night, it looks more gold and less coppery.

I know from other threads that there is variation in colour for Macbooks. For anyone out there that has a gold series 5, how gold is yours?

I went to the Apple store to buy one in gold, then I discovered that ”gold” Is actually rose gold, which is ugly. So I got a silver aluminum one. Apple really dropped the ball on this one.

The Series 3/4/5 gold is midway between the Series 2 gold and rose gold. I think it's fine. To my eyes, it tends to take on a secondary hue matching the band it is paired with. When I wear it with an orange or red sport band, it looks fairly pink. Today, I'm wearing it with a brown sports band, and it looks a bit more coppery. If I wear it with dark blue, it looks gold.

I don't believe there's been change in the color of the gold between Series 4 and Series 5. Some folks have disliked the "pink" gold for a couple of years now.

Thanks for your reply! It's just curious because the pictures on the website show it to be pretty standard gold.

In natural light, it looks very pink/copper to me, and in warmer indoor light, more gold.

It still looks good to me with blue leather bands in particular, although I think red looks pretty good as well. My yellow and orange ones don't pair up so well I think.
