Hi!

My brother-in-law is in the process of paying off his T-Mobile iPhone 6. He and my sister have to move where there is no native T-Mobile service soon, so they're going to switch to Verizon or Page Plus.

I believe, once the T-Mobile iPhone 6 is paid off and unlocked, they could use it on Verizon. Some things, like My Verizon, visual voicemail, etc. may not work, but he'll be able to make calls, text, and use the Internet without any problems, right?

Anybody have any experience with this who might be able to confirm (or correct) me? Thanks in advance for any help!!! I just don't want to give them any wrong information.

I think you have it backwards. A Verizon iPhone will work on TMo but a TMo iphone (unlocked) will not work on Verizon. I know I could not get the 5S (unlocked TMo) to work with Verizon - maybe its different for the 6?

Uh-oh. I may be in trouble here.

I believe ever since the 6 and 6 plus Verizon was able to use at&t and T-Mobile iphones and vice versa but i could be wrong. Maybe you can pop your sim card in there next time you see them so you can see if it works or not.

An unlocked LTE phone may be used on Verizon... but ONLY for LTE. The phone will not have access to the CDMA network even if it has a compatible CDMA chipset. Verizon must keep their LTE network open due to a stipulation in their 700Mhz spectrum licensing agreement with the FCC, but their CDMA network remains locked down and will only allow device MEID's from their own database (i.e. Verizon devices).

Basically, you will be fine in a big city with VoLTE, but if you go traveling to an area without LTE, you may be out of service.

Yeah. To simplify what 1080p said:

A Verizon unlocked phone works on AT&T/T-Mobile, AT&T/T-Mobile phones DO NOT work on all Verizon networks

You certainly have it backwards. An unlocked Verizon phone works fine with AT&T T-Mobile but this does not happens vice-a-versa. Your brother-in-laws' T-Mobile unlocked phone will not work with Verizon. It will; be better top switch to Verizon.

Wrong. Don't post info you know nothin about.

As I recall, a T-Mobile (or AT&T) iPhone 6 or 6+ can work on Verizon if an already activated Verizon SIM is used in the phone.

Also, as I recall, an unlocked sim-free phone from Apple will work on any carrier, including Verizon.

That could be a good thing to try.

Thanks for your input, everybody. If anybody else has any experience/feedback, I'd still love to hear it.

I had posted that in a different thread and got shunned.
