I have switched from the jersey shore area to NYC but not able to switch anywhere else. Would love to get some California sunshine. My son might have a surf comp in San diego soon don't know if I trust him with my iPod. LOL

i changed my location from its original to nyc and i really want to switch to california too 🙂 but i can't do it. i thought about deleting the game and downloading it back but i got scared after reading some of the people losing their towns. so i'm stuck with either nyc or my own town istanbul 🙂

Something big is going down. Booyah is drastically reducing the popularity gain from franchising. Disneyland just dropped from over 100k popularity to just about 64k. The current owners all keep the old popularity, but new franchisees are gonna get screwed royally. I have been gradually noticing the downturn, but after the last few hours, it is obvious that Booyah is again sticking its nose in.

Speculating on Possible Game Changes

#1208, #1210

In addition to lowering the popularity counts, another potential change could be limiting the maximum number of multiple items, most notably, the Stock Exchanges, or perhaps for things like the subway which gives good population for a small footprint.

Booyah's efforts might be focusing on making it easier for newer players and/or for those who just play on their own.
How big of an impact on players who have already accumulated big hoards of coins and bucks will be interesting to see.

Way back Thanksgiving, when I was just learning to play MT2, I was curious about the search function and not knowing what I was doing, I turned off my location and inadvertently set my "secondary" location to Paris France. That's why so many of my businesses are French ones that I purchased myself. I've tried to re-set to New York City, but it never worked. So I'm stuck with San Francisco and Paris. SF has almost nothing worthwhile. Whenever I look to franchise anything attractive even in the Bay Area around SF, it's always in Bucks and I don't know why. 🙁 San Jose might even have been better than SF.
But I think I'm almost ready to go back to the original way of playing--creating a town filled with good eateries and pretty to live in. Right now, with only offices and Stock Exchanges, it's boring. 😉

I've been lucky enough to have purchased almost all of my businesses via coins. I traveled down the California coast during the winter holidays, which gave me access to Los Angeles, Orange County (Disneyland), and San Diego. All the San Francisco area businesses are purchasable via coins right from my house. Then, I discovered that turning off the location services on my phone put me in New York, so those businesses were easily accessed.

Right now, I'm not so interested in getting businesses for popularity only. I'm thinking of places like the Australian Opera House or even the Tuschinski Theater in Amsterdam, where I saw "The Rock" (subtitled in Dutch). Hmm, I'll have to take a look later...

If you love Starbucks you should visit my town. It’s called FedWay and it’s my version of downtown and south Seattle. It’s made up of exclusively Seattle businesses and includes the Pike Place Market and the first Starbucks located at 1912 Pike Place.

Not only is the Starbucks cool, it has 41K popularity (and I think the popularity will continue to go up as people refine their towns.) 🙂

I am trying to buy all the land so I can then concentrate on fixing up the town and making it look pretty.

Oh, that's how you got the French businesses. Nice! You could have done far worse with your location selection. 🙂

The SF bay area has the tech companies... Google, Apple, Facebook, Yahoo, etc. Haven't tried looking for Netflix, yet. I'll probably head down to L.A. and Orange County in a couple of weeks. See what I can find. When I first started playing MT2, I thought I scored big when I found a 700 popularity business. 🙂

If you're in SF and turn your location services on, the business around here should be available in coins... hmm. don't know what's going on.

You can check out my town and see if my bay area businesses are available via coins...

What times do you get? I get the usual, 3 mins 39 mins 2 hours 10 hours.

Also, I bought google for 200 green cash 😀. Not the greatest pop, but hey at least I can say I have google. Now just need to find a cheap Disneyland.

Oh yeah, yet another gripe about Booyah. Their constant changing of the game rules whenever they feel like it.
[I had some scenarios, market references, and data points here, but I removed it all to spare all of you from my long-winded rant. 🙂]

Ok, so the gist of this seems to be that businesses are going to cost the same no matter where you franchise it from. This also means that the respective popularity of the business most likely will not reflect the popularity that the business owner sees (unless the owner had just franchised it him/herself).

Barracuda Bay made some observations in Post 1210 about the popularity problem.

I finally got enough population for my 36th business. I want to make it a good one. I will try to get out to California today. I did some searching in my location and found some business in NYC that looked good. Wondering if anybody has KFC with around 40383 pop.,Celeste diner 26000 or plane image 25232.

Cant believe 5,000,000 anything they do they better give us more land.

So I've managed to get rid of some of my old businesses, and change them into some mega franchises, with a little help from my friends!!!! 😀

I'm going to get carpel tunnel syndrome from tapping so much.😉 But now I can relax a little, and just enjoy life in my mansion. Hahaha.

GraceGirl, I franchised the NYT from you. Chose Begins Cafe instead of Dominos. I notice that the popularity differs on each specific town, and on Booyahtown (or whatever), for most businesses....

I cleaned out a lot of population builders, and rearranged my town a little. My population dropped from like a level 25, to an 18. I notice that only 18 of my 21 remaining businesses are in my Stats menu. And the game did not hold vacancy slots for me, as I lowered the population so many levels....

Does anyone know a mega travel agency (with 6 figure popularity??)?? Would like to swap it.

I really wish that girl who is late for school, 1000 times a day, would throw me a green buck, every once in a while! lol. Also, there is no chance that I'm putting a skate park in my town, so get over it. haha.

oh, and I put MyTown on my iPod as well, and even though it's under the same ID in game center, it's asking me to build a whole new town from scatch? Anyone know if there's a fix for that? anyone worried who is doing this, when booyah upgrades the game, that they suddenly will not having enough population to get more businesses greater than their 36?

I'd love to take out pop. fillers, but am worried I'll have to get "tons" more population to get my 37th business (& up)--

I started it, so we can have a forum just for MyTown2. With multiple threads for different purposes. It makes it a LOT easier for people to find answers to their questions.

When I first came to this thread, I had to sift through 30+ pages to find a few tidbits of info. Now we're at 50 pages!

I encourage everyone to start a profile and add content. It's very simple and free.

Let me know if there is a reason anyone does not want to make the switch and I will try to handle it.
