The drivers and kernel extensions for the new hardware just aren’t in there. No Mac can run an older OS than the one it ships with originally. That’s the way it’s always been.

It is possible and I have successfully done it many times — on both PowerPC and Intel Macs. I have no experience with ARM Macs though. Last edited: Nov 11, 2021
