I’m having problems with the Safari extension. It launches my vault and hangs. Works fine with Chrome. Anyone see this issue?

Mine is working fine in Safari and Chrome with High Sierra...
Thanks, it's really strange, started doing this for no reason about a week ago. When I select Open My Vault from the extension, it hangs with a spinning red circle over my grayed out vault like it is trying to login. I can open my vault by going directly to the URL. I have tried clearing history, cookies and cache. LastPass has been less than helpful.

I really feel like it is a Safari issue on my end. Anyone have any tips on clearing some settings on Safari? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the extension numerous times, including using LP tool for uninstalling.

For my use, Chrome is much more stable than Safari. Chrome is also significantly faster for me... I only use Safari on rare occasions. Have you tried Chrome yet?

I used to use chrome exclusively but I switched to safari because it’s less of a battery drain than chrome. Safari also has the share button which I love and chrome does not.

I have the same problem.

I have the same problem.
I think I have a fix. I went into LastPass preferences and under general, I checked off:

Automatically Log out when all browsers are closed and Safari has been closed for (mins)

I set the minutes for 5 and then saved it. I logged out of LastPass through the extension and then closed Safari. Re-opened Safari, logged in through the extension, unchecked the automatic setting above, saved, and launched the Vault and it worked.

Let me know if this works. I am curious. I believe the order above is how it went, but this was totally by accident.

Perfectly!

1) Do you have any other extensions running in Safari?
2) Have you tried uninstalling / reinstalling the LastPass extension?
I haven’t yet but I will. Not hopeful though as the last time I had this issue it was incredibly frustrating.

I started having problems with LastPass last year - similar to what you've explained. I had coworkers and friends with similar problems. When I couldn't get a needed password when I was out and about with my iPhone that was the last straw -- switched to 1Password. It is much happier with Safari - and works well on Windows on my work machine. It's a little bit more expensive but I've got my wife and several family members on the family plan. A lot happier and it is a lot more consistent at remembering / filling in passwords.

Thanks. I contemplated it last time around (switching) and will consider it. Especially since last pass support is useless on this topic. I pay for the premium and don’t mind paying. I just have been using last pass for 7 years or so and don’t want to start over.

Is there a migration assistant with 1Passowrd?

There is - but it's not easy to figure out - it basically requires you go deep into LastPass to get a window that dumps all your data in a text file - then 1Password imports that. Worked fairly well once I figured out how to do it (wish I had documented it).

Yeah I had a paid LastPass account too.

yeah, I moved to 1Password late last year, and I cancelled my LastPass subscription at renewal a few months later. The migration assistant worked really well for me, once I'd got the data out of LastPass.
The 2 factor auth functionality is so much better than lastpass, and everything just works so much better than lastpass.

Also, the UI is modern and light and matches my mac, while LastPass's UI is slow and clunky, and hasn't changed since long before they got bought out by LogMeIn

For me, it was the repeated security breaches at LastPass that finally got me to leave though

Yeah this was a factor for me as well. Surprising how many people don't know this (at least in my circle of friends/family).

Thanks to both of you. I heard about the security breaches only after trying to google a fix for my Safari issues!

Last time around lastpass was no help with my issue.

I've had no issues with Safari in over 2 years when I signed up. Just used it on Safari over the weekend and, while it isn't great in the browser, it worked for me just fine.

I tried LastPass years ago and I just didn’t like it for some reason. I don’t know why, but it wasn’t as smooth. I have 1Password and it’s great. I even have the family subscription now and no problem with it.

Yea, I did some research this morning on it. I am thinking about it. Just a pain in the arse to make a switch.

Question: how do you like 1Password when it comes to mobile safari? Does it work the same as LP where you launch the plugin? Also does 1PW support iOS apps?

When I tried LastPass there wasn’t any extensions, so I’m not sure how smooth it was.
With 1Password, there is one. I just go on a site, hit the box with the arrow at the bottom, select 1Password, authentication with my finger, and all the info loads.

Thanks. With LP on a phone, you click the share button from the bottom of safari like you were going to send a link and there is a LP option. Click it and it fills.
