hello - I am thinking about getting the Squaretrade insurance for my wife's iPhone X.... I believe it is now $8.99 a month with the option to cancel anytime which is really nice.

My question is what are the costs and options for an iPhone X if you were to need a repair like screen replacement, etc...

I read that they offer an option for genius bar reimbursment with a deductible of $100 I think?

But then I also read that they offer an option to have a tech come to your house and perform the repair for a deductible of $25... Would that even be an option for the iPhone X screen?

if anyone has the service can you please go through the claims screen and let me know what the repair options are and the deductibles

chatting with several of their reps was useless, they basically told me get the service and then you can see what the options available to you are depending on your claim lol.

I had squaretrade but cancelled and got some money back. I wasn’t paying monthly. Just paid some money then there would be a deductible or something like that. I never filed a claim. Luckily nothing bad happened to my iPhone.

They use non OEM parts when doing their repairs.

It is cheaper but I prefer AC+

This.

I used to use squaretrade but have stopped due to the non oem issue. On the X/8/Xs it’s a big problem as the panels need to be calibrated with the phones to enable tru tone, only Apple can do this. As a result they did fix an 8+ Of mine, but the screen is noticeably dimmer than a comparison 7+ and tru tone is no longer an option on the 8+, I got AC+ for my Xs Max. With AppleCare+ at $9.99 a month it really is just worth it to pay the extra dollar.

But don't they give you the option to complete the repair at the genius bar and then they reimburse you?

Yes. But it has to be a screen only repair.

If Apple spots -anything- wrong with your phone besides the screen they won’t replace it under the screen cost, they’ll make you switch out your phone for the out of warranty replacement cost, which SquareTrade doesn’t cover. (There’s a disclaimer about this when choosing this option, I know because I made a claim and saw it a few weeks ago)

Good to know, thanks for the info.

Squaretrade insurance...I believe the way it works is that it will cover up to the full amount you purchased your phone for. Phone cost 1k then you have up to 1k of repair after that you are on your own. I used ST twice. Once for plasma issue and other for a notebook.

My old zenbook had a power supply issue. I luck out, cause they were not able to fix my issue. I sent in the notebook three times for the same issue. They ended up cutting me a check for the full amount of the notebook.

While Android phones can be complicated, for anything Apple the best and only option is AppleCare to me. Pay at once or pay monthly and get the best possible option.

Plus if they can’t even tell you how their own insurance works, yeah no **** that.

I agree, however for those that didn't take advantage in the first 60 days of their purchase Applecare is not an option unfortunately.
