My scale shows ~1.05 for wifi. A little bit more than spec. Wonder what the manufacturing tolerances are? Could be my scale.

It's most likely that your scale isn't perfectly accurate. There's not going to be that much variance in manufacturing.

Reminds me of the 5S buyer who came to the iPhone forum and asked if we thought the Geeks would allow her to weigh several iphones when she picked up her 5s.

That is only a 5% variance from spec weight. I'd say a common scale could be off up to 20% unless you've meticulously calibrated it prior to weighing the iPad.

On the keynote, they do say 1lb but if you actually look at specifications, it's 469g (1.03lb) for Wi-Fi and 478g (1.05lb) for LTE.

...really? Nitpicking at the weight? I really don't understand these threads. Light leak testing, weighing, dust pick up...I mean paying for an expensive device I understand to give it a once over but geez. I buy it, look it over, protect it and go on with my life.

My ipad comes in @ .95. Maybe they forgot to put something inside my pad. LOL

It just feel like everybody is poking and proding their ipads - am i the only one just using the damn thing!?

i'm loving it, does anyone else think the contrast and screen in general looks better than the iPad 3/4? everythings really popping out at me on this, very cool

Seriously, the OP had his WIFI turned on. Turn it off and it'll go back to weighing exactly one single pound (16 ounces, to the unwashed).

This is just how "some" Apple people are. They can't be happy and just enjoy the technology, they got to worry to the point they no longer can enjoy their new device.

Kinda make you wonder what kind of a mess their life is!:p

(No iPad Air was ever bought by them)

Yes.

5a. Locks him/herself in a pitch black room to stare at test patterns to check for light leakage at extreme angles.

And quote an Apple discussion forum link, to try to make the problem looks very serious.

And apparently "going on with your life" means getting involved in others?

The guy didnt make a malicious thread, he simply stated a question based on his own research. So if you're going to play the "I dont understand these threads" card then you can't be a hypocrite and pretend that you are above the idea of nitpicking when you are clearly far below it.

Mine weighed in at 471 grams. 2 grams over the spec, but that's explained by the xtremeguard back protector I installed. I guess I have a good scale.

Mine weighs only 455 grams  I just got it though and only have a few apps installed, maybe the specs show the weight when it's full?
