i know a few who have both. Still working well using both?

I’m finally thinking of getting the 10.5 cellular as to take and use out and about and at work while using 12.9,format home and watching things. Might be overkill but I miss not having a cellular iPad.

Since no one has replied to your thread I thought I would comment. I don’t have a 10.5” but I do have an iPad mini 4 cellular, an iPad Air 2, and a 2017 iPad Pro 12.9” cellular. I just bought the mini for use as a display screen for my DJI Mavic Pro’s wireless controller. However, I’ve actually been using the mini for light surfing and messaging. For me, I think the 10.5” and 12.9” are too close in size to really warrant both. I don’t really use the Air 2 too much any more, only if the Pro was low on battery. But I do find myself using the mini as it’s very portable. The most portable of all iPads.

Regards,

Josh

I have both - a 10.5 wifi and a 12.9 cellular, along with a 15 MBP. I generally use the 10.5 for general consumption when on the go, and for reading at home (avid reader and love the Kindle app on it). I use the 12.9 for surfing the web, email and work (usually editing Word and Excel documents) and find I do not often have to take my MBP out at night or on the weekends with it. When I travel I either take the 10.5 and the MBP or just the 12.9, depending on what I am doing. Could I live with just one of them? Sure and it would probably be the 10.5 since I have a 15 MBP. But I love the flexibility having both give me and since my work bought both of them for me, money wasn't an object!

I tried the 12.9 and 9.7 at the same time and ended up returning the 12.9 for another 9.7. The 12.9 was just a bit on the big side even for just doing the internet at home. I do most landscape and the keyboard was horrible on the 12.9 for me. I am now the owner of two 10.5 iPads and could not be more happy! Love the cellular on mine, too. Was a life save during our hurricane season when I was out of power for 4 days.

Just ordered the 10.5 with ceullar today. Think will be happy with this decision. I do miss not having internet access at all times. I take my 12.9 to work but it's wifi only so getting access at all times is a no go. I tried getting a portable wifi but never worked the way i had hoped

To me the 10.5 is like perfect size. Have got very used to the on screen keyboard!

While I haven't yet upgraded to the 10.5, I do have a 9.7 and 12.9 (both cellular). If I had to choose one, I'd keep the 10" class model. The iPad is kind of my iPhone and I find 10" is small and light enough for mobile usage (fits into my purses) but the 12.9 is too bulky. However, 10" can't beat the 12.9 for comic reading. Also, during work meetings, 10" seems tiny in comparison to letter or A4 paper. Meanwhile, the 12.9 is physically around the same size as pad paper (albeit smaller display).

I had both 9.7 and 12.9 iPad Pro and went with the 9.7. It was the more portable device and since there was an only US keyboard available at that time, I found the 12.9 too large to use as a tablet. Now with iOS 11 and the iPad 12.9 having 4GB of RAM I maybe should have kept the bigger one, but at this time the newer design and true tone sold me on the smaller model.
I’m still debating if I need a Mac at home now, or if I should pull the trigger on a new 12.9.

Yup, the 10.5 Pro is the iPad I was waiting for. It’s perfect for my needs - highly mobile digital nomad.

I found the 12.9 to be a bit to ungainly large, so I returned it and I'm only on the 10.5 and I couldn't be happier. Well I could be happier, say if I hit the lottery :D

do you use a smart keyboard or just smart cover?

Just a smart cover, no keyboard

do you use anything to cover the back of the ipad? i notice that there is no case for ipad pro 10.5 - only a smart cover or sleeve, no case, (from official apple store) , so i wonder if you use smart cover, if you have anything to protect the back? i think there is a transparent back cover that is compatable with the smart cover?

I’ve just ordered a cheap apple copy sleeve...a lot cheaper than official one

Well I’ve decided and sold my 12.9 and going with the 10.5 and the 2017 MacBook Pro with touchbar

Thought iPad plus laptop would be a better combo.
