I've been trying to get my hands on a USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter for ages. I ordered it, but apparently, something is so backwards in Apple's supply chain, that they can't make a very very basic cable (which is an $80 charge) without a 4-6 week wait. My online order says "Delivers April 28 - May 11 by Next Day Shipping" but obviously it's not charged me or shipped yet. It's absolutely absurd if you ask me. It's difficult having to carry a USB charger for my phone, and one for my computer, since Apple decided to sell a laptop that can't charge both without the adaptor. I've been coping, but I'm leaving for a 2 week trip on the 8th, and who knows if the dongle I ordered from Apple will be here by then.

Just curious if anyone has been able to find one in a store, or online that's available right away. I'd just as soon buy it elsewhere. Clearly there's a major change that's gone on in Apple's supply chain, given I was able to just walk into a Best Buy and buy the Macbook, yet online and in-stores Apple has a 2 months wait. Something just isn't right.

If anyone knows of somewhere I can get the adaptor online or in-store, please pass the info along to me.

Thanks!

I found mine in an apple store. they don't have it on the floor because "they don't put the accessories on unless they have the macbook" (which to me is just downright stupid)

that was in Toronto. Also bought some from monoprice. So try your luck there if you are in NA

I bought a USB-C to USB cable and just that to plug in to a third party power adaptors. it will work, if it's turned off

You didn't read my post, did you? I'm aware that every Apple Store sells the USB C to USB adaptor, I bought one. As I stated in my post, it's the USB-C Digital AV Adaptor I'm looking for. I don't want to be swapping between a USB and a Power cable. I want the dongle that's the digital AV adaptor so I can charge my Macbook while I have something plugged into the USB.

I do appreciate your trying to be helpful, but please read the context of the message next time.

I'm happy to review a link to a Monoprice product that does what the Apple Digital AV Multiport Adaptor does. Please, do provide the link.

And remember:

- USB 3.0
- HDMI Port
- USB-C Power Port

You don't understand what Apple's plug does, do you?

if you want the EXACT set up of Apple 3-in-1 adaptor. when why are you asking? Go to Apple/call apple store. NOBODY is making the exact 3 ports right now.

Also, someone already posted the exact thread here. Maybe learn to read sometimes before posting a new one

No need to get an attitude. I was VERY clear in my post as to what I was looking for. Not sure why you get all defensive, when you tried to act like the things can be found everywhere.

It's silly to suggest someone who is asking for a multi-port adaptor buy various ports. I clearly stated my intention was to be able to charge and use USB at the same time, so there's no solution you can fathom aside from the exact part I asked for (hence the subject of this thread), that would work.

My mom always used to tell me "If you don't have anything worthwhile to say, just keep your mouth shut. A fool speaks for the sake of speaking without something to say."

In an attempt to answer the original question here: people (including myself) are beginning to report seeing this in the local Apple stores, before they are showing it as available when checking online. I picked up two last week.

Thanks for bringing things back to topic. I'm in the bay are so have 22 apple stores here. I've checked in store availability every day for 2 weeks now and it's always said ships to store. :-(

I bought one at the Apple store in Bridgeport Village, Oregon a week ago. I would not trust the website availability check. Go to a store and look. They had several that day.

And yes, this is the digital HDMI, USB, and USB-C connector.

London, Canada. The Apple Store has lots of them here. I bought one.

Still don't have the USB-C to VGA though.

+1. None of my local stores showed availability, but I called and the store rep said they had plenty.

Why are some people on here so darnn arrogant and pretentious? Anyone reading this thread or Mr in general might be turned off to macs completely by some of these *****s.

Go to the store. Two of my local stores had the HDMI version in stock despite the website saying it would be weeks before it could ship to store. Apparently they don't update the stock online for this thing. I have not seen the VGA version however. Go to your store to check and buy it!

A lot of the stores have them in stock despite online saying they do not. Also, if you order online for in store pickup it says 5-7 weeks, but I got mine in 4 days...as have others.

Order one today for in store pickup and ignore the 5-7 weeks. Check in store too, you may get lucky.

Reeeeeally? Now you have me wanting to take a trip into the store. Guess I'll run in there tonight. I've been watching my credit card just waiting for it to ship, so if I could just run into the store and pick it up, that'd be amazing. I dunno what Apple is up to lately, this is another example of "Why, Apple?" when they don't update the website with in-store inventory. If they have them in store, I've never seen an instance where online doesn't show (with the exception of drop-ship items like iPhone where the store doesn't immediately accept the inventory for a couple hours).

Will give it a shot and report back!

Cool, will run into the store tonight after work. I don't trust calling them as it seems they hear the word USB-C or Macbook and they go into the "you have to order online" script.

For someone who was able to buy it, do you have the store receipt handy? Curious if the Apple product code on the receipt matches the Apple product code on the website, or if they're different. That could explain the no inventory showing in stores.

plus when you call it just get a call center that looks up the inventory online the same way you would.

Just went to an Apple Store to check. No inventory online. When I got there, there were none out on the floor. I asked an employee and they new the exact part and had one brought up. Bought it on the spot.

Odd that they weren't on display or marked in inventory online. Anyways, glad I saw these threads saying they might be available! Now to cancel my online order for one.

Went to two stores here in San francisco and neither had them and both said they have never had them. One guy was insistent that no stores have them. Ugh.

would be helpful if the folks who found it in their local apple store can post the store location

Amazed at how many people are so anxious to give Apple another $80. I'll wait for a knockoff on ebay.

Amazed how many people are willing to shove any old electrical plug into the side of their $1500 computer regardless of how unreliable the manufacturer is.

Call me cautious, but with charging integrated into the data and video connections, I think I'd splurge on the Apple part. YMMV!
