Mavericks probably won't be here for another 1.5-2 months. Apple is too busy pushing trash like the iPhone C

I wouldn't say the iPhone C is trash. But it is a reflection & further proof that Apple is deeply addicted to massive profits above all.

While a corporations job is to generate profits, it also has a duty to deliver what it's customers want. Not to convince them they have no clue what they want till the company delivers it.

I am the odd man out, I don't update NOTHING unless there is something on the new release that I need. Still on 10.8.2.

Am in the school of, new is not always better, so I stay with that works for me.

Am technically savvy so I don't worry about security. Am not into political radical nor doing anything shady and nobody is interested in my private data except FB, Google etc but I got them covered.

In the case that my laptop does ever get compromised, I have a restore from backup procedure, a whole 15 minutes deal.

Not asking anybody to join my cult. ;)

Lou

No such thing exists! Although, I wouldn't say no to a 96 SS :D

U re darned right!

Is a vicious cycle: U update software, it wants more horsepower from your current hardware, so you buy more hardware to catch up, then the faster hardware encourages lazy developers to write bloated software.

YOU give them the $$$. Am cheap.

I haven't tried my printer since the update. Hope it works. Mail is definitely improved. Not excellent but a little better.

I bought a brand new printer for school 2 weeks ago and set it up via wifi since I don't have a USB cable and I didn't have to do anything after the update and it prints just fine! :)

Same here, WiFi printer (2 Year old HP Deskjet AIO). Updated to 10.8.5 on my mini and my air... No problems at all...

I don't think were talking about a point update, such as 10.8.4 to 10.8.5. You usually see support being dropped from say 10.7 to 10.8.

And HP is the worst about orphaning printer drivers at the earliest opportunity.

Ahh Got it.

My mistake, I read it as if we were borthering to do a point Update and that the hassle with that could (potentially) be printer / driver problems.

I stand corrected sir
- and have a Nice Day. :)

If people used your logic then no one would ever patch anything.

In a few months you are likely to be asking if you should install 10.9 or wait for 10.9.1.

If you ever worked in an IT company, you would know that the latest updates/patches are not always the most stables...

If you have a 2013 Macbook Air and do a 10.8.5 update, your camera will not be accessible on SKYPE. This is acknowledged in the SKYPE forums as there is a 32 bit video driver missing from the update.

Apple hasn't yet issued a fix to this.

Thanks for the info. My printer is good with the update. It's an old Lex. I like it because it is compatible with 10.3.9, XP, Win 7.

I don't think I will upgrade to Mavericks unless there are features I cannot live without.

10.8.5 was the first Apple update ever that caused me some grief. My bluetooth stopped working and when I'd mouse over the right side of the menu bar I'd get beach balling.

A simple PRAM reset fixed this and all was well. NVidia has updated their web drivers as of last night to be compatible with 10.8.5 (at least for the card I have).
