trouble printing off the windows side in imac.....she's been bugging me to switch off Dell so she can test it further , but she's watching Eastenders right now which will finish in 15 mins so I'll lswitch off now and et her play around a bit more then !Will report back - I think the trouble is identifying the right drivers .

You've been an enormous help ! thank you....we're lucky to have a dedicated support line in place !

you're welcome....just doing my little part...there will be a day I need help here, guaranteed.

I have a feeling you're using a shared connection to print on the iMac, making it dependent on the Dell. What we want is the iMac to recognize the printer via the network, directly. In your printer settings (mac) does it display the IP address as the method of connection?

In other words, we want to make certain the router/network is controlling when the printer is available, not any one device/computer.

yes, on the mac side it does display an ip address; but on the windows side we're connected via local printer settings, but although it printed ok yesterday with those settings, today it doesn't print ! We did manage to get it to print yeterday on the windows side even when the Dell was switched off.

she's now re-set printing as a network printer on the windows side , connecting through ip address and now it seems to be working fine ! Last night it worked through local settings ....anyway, we'll test it on and off through the week to be sure it's all working fine.

Didn't know until yesterday that we had an in house IT technician ! Cheese on toast was as much as it cost while she watched Eastenders - and yes ( in reply to kramerica20) that's UK on the British Broadcasting Corporation !

over and out - hopefully.

printing works fine but the scan set up is a nightmare.....have gone through all steps / all combination of steps....shared folder is set up /ip address is set/tried everything - on line through the mirror image set up as well but it will not get to the destination folder - really hoping ricoh will respond to a request for technical help........don't honestly expect anyone here to be able to resolve this without knowing each and every step we have already tried ....but any ideas regarding troubleshooting welcome.
Mac migration complete - all well and good otherwise.

Just wanted to report that after contacting ricoh technical support on line a couple of days ago ( e mail request for help) someone has telephoned me today and fixed all settings via remote help - scanning + faxing ! No charge......excellent customer service, couldn't be happier.
