I was tempted at first, but sucks there’s no AOD. I wanted to get the S5 but no sales on those and I’d rather get the 6 if they’re going to be sold at the same price. Interested to see how those of you like your SE when you get it. It’s a good deal, but I see Apple is making this more geared towards the folks wanting to get a watch for the first time.

I chose the SE Nike 44mm SG. Even if I had a S5 or 6, I would disable AOD. I have no need for the blood ox or ECG, but wanted to upgrade from the S3 I bought in late July as a trial run. The SE was everything I wanted/needed in an upgrade and nothing I don't.

I'd go for the AW SE I'd look to upgrade from a AW S2 I'd still benefit from upgrades from the S3 S4 and S5 I don't need an all singing and dancing model the only thing i'm not sure on is would watch bands from a S2 would they work on a SE model?

I did. And your guess on the marketing is spot on. First time AW purchase.

IMO a used S5 in good condition would be the better choice than the SE.
I don’t buy used. Just can’t.

Bands from a 38mm case will work on a 40 mm case.

Bands from a 42mm case will also fit a 44mm case.

Understandable, I think Amazon has the s5 44m for $329 which is a great deal. But the SE sounds great, especially since the ECG is not accurate and probably creates more trouble for healthy people.

I ordered the SE because I've always been curious about the AW and it seems to have most everything I need in an affordable package. It will be my first AW. I've been using Garmin watches for the past 7 years and have always been into sport watches more than the AW, so I view the SE as my trial AW experience. If I like it and decide to use it more than my Garmin, I will likely sell my SE and upgrade to a 6 or next year's model.

Your Apples perfect candidate, especially being your a new watch owner. The SE is going to offer a similar WatchOS experience mainly across-the-board, with exception of a few health features, but it’s the price point and and opportunity to see if the watch is for you within the first 14 days. With Apple offering such an affordable entry-level price, I think they will attract more users like yourself Enjoy. Let us know what you think.

I have a s3 but if I was buying now it would be an se. I don’t care about the blood and ecg stuff. Tbh the only issue with s3 is the limited abount of faces I’ve never been bothered by lack of always on

I was in the market for buying an Apple watch for the first time... I like wearing traditional watches, including my "hybrid Watch" from Kronaby, so I was always hesitant to wear a "display" on my arm.

However, I hate taking my phone with me for workouts, but need a music player and a rep-timer. So Apple watch seems like a good thing for fitness and end of last month I bought a series 3 gps. Cheapest option, since I would only wear it when working out anyway.

I had heard about rumors that Series 3 would be replaced by a new budget option (supposedly to be called "Apple Watch SE"), but that was rumored to happen in March 2021. Didn't want to wait 6 months, so yeah, bought the Series 3 three weeks ago.

What shall I say: Turns out, wearing an apple watch and closing rings can be kind of addictive, so I haven't taken it off since. Ended up ordering an AW SE Cellular now and will be selling the Series 3 on ebay. The bigger display, faster processor, better speakers and the cellular mode are worth the Upgrade, I guess.

I guess I will make a bit of a loss but hey, you learn from your mistakes... :)

I purchased an SE to replace my cracked screen S4. I've used ECG maybe half a dozen times? Blood oxygen is interesting as it'd get me much more accurate VO2 max measurements for my runs, but oh well. No need for always on display.

Cancelled my order when I realised it didn't have Always on Display, picked up a Series 5 Nike edition from the refurb store for an extra £50, very happy with that decision

Lucky you... Refurb store in Germany doesn't have the Apple Watch...

This sounds like my story, except that 1) I haven't worn a watch regularly for quite a while and 2) I'll trade in my S3 and have the discount applied to the purchase of the SE.

I was surprised at how useful I found the AW to be and what a big part of my life it quickly became (for lack of better phraseology). After the proverbial light bulb went off, it wasn't a matter of if I'd upgrade, but to what version or series.

Yeah you're right, I think people like me who never got an AW are a target audience for the SE. I debated a lot about getting the 6 or the SE, but I've been using Garmin watches for years now and have been fine without the added health features of the 6. I want to try it out longer than the return period because I feel like I really need to use it for a few months to get a sense of if the AW fits in my life and can replace my Garmin. So I felt like the SE was a good compromise of features/price as a first AW.

I ordered the cellular version and one thing I am really looking forward to is leaving my iPhone at home when I go for a run. I always take my phone in case of an emergency, but with the cellular SE I can call, text, and have my family know where I am in case something happens.

I thought about trading in, but they offered 110€, whereas I had paid 250€ three weeks ago... Hoping to get a better price on ebay...
