“This year's Max is a heavy phone.” - it’s literally 2 grams heavier than last year’s Max. Am I missing something??
I’m speaking of any Max sized phone. The Max version is a heavy phone. I don’t care what year’s model, it’s a HEAVY phone. That should be easy enough.

I'm looking to get an iPhone 12, but can't really afford to spend the extra $500 on the max. I gave away my iphone 11 pro max to a cousin of mine as she really needed a reliable phone as she's a single mom. I've been using my husband's old iphone xs since then. Not really happy with the battery life and screen size of the xs, of course.

I'm looking to buy a iPhone 12, but I'm really torn. I really want the 12 max, but it's way out of my budget. The iPhone 12 is in my budget range. So i have the 6.1 12 in my sights, but worry about regretting the 6.1 size.

In order to get the max I'd have to wait another 1-2 months , which I'm not really feeling as I'm struggling with the XS.

For those who downgraded to 6.1, did you have any regrets, or should I stick it out for the max?
Maybe get a used 11 Pro Max? Otherwise just wait until the 13 arrives and the 12s will drop in price.

An older post but just saw it. You should have given the XS to your friend! I used to have an XS and loved it , then traded to an 11 Pro Max. The XS battery was terrible to be fair though , and the 11 PM TOO HEAVY!! Can’t win. I didn’t upgrade to the 12 because it just wasn’t worth an upgrade. The design isn’t that great in my opinion.

It’s odd that in Android land you can get large screen phones which don’t weigh like a brick but in Apple land , the pro Max’s are just a bit too much.

anyways , obviously wait to see what the 13 / 12S series brings to the table now.

Not sure what Im going to do yet. Most likely will look at a regular 13 as the regular 12 was the best of the 12 series by far (features for the price. The pro series was just overpriced).

Well, plastic is lighter than glass and steel. Apple imho clearly demonstrated plastic competence with the 3G(S), but this material simply wouldn’t suit Apple’s marketing story nowadays.

Besides, weight is relative: You can get used to it very quickly. And the Max series offers some serious benefits that more than make up for the added weight (again imho).

Personally, I only notice the weight when transporting it in a shirt pocket, but that’s about it. Everything else, it is light enough to not cause any fatigue, even after longer periods of holding it in the hand (unlike other Apple products - I’m looking at you, iPad Pro 12.9 … !)

Well qualifying it with “this year’s Max” implies that it’s weight is being compared to and is different in a substantial way than previous years Max. But English can be tough. But you’re correct in that in should have been easy enough. Moving along.

I sold my 11 pro for a 12, was $0 out of pocket on release, 3 months ago I got a 12 pro max 256gb for $519AUD off retail brand new, couldn’t knock it back and so glad I didn’t, best iPhone i have had and have had them all since 4S.
Would never go any smaller, weight is a non issue for me.

This was such a weird scenario. It really stuck with me.

I wonder how things turned out for the OP. Did they get a new phone? Is it an acceptable upgrade?

I enjoyed my upgrade from the iPhone 11 Pro to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The larger screen is awesome esp. when I used it most of the day.

I said this in another thread and I think it applies here too: I’m a heavy user and had the 11 Pro Max. I got the 12 and I have no regrets whatsoever And it also has a much better grip due to flat edges, which my 11 Pro Max compensated with its weight.

i might be the odd one out, but maybe get your phone back from your cousin and give her the xs you're using now? She will still have a phone and you'll have your own phone back and be happy?
