Macs unlike Toyotas are not affordable to most people with the exception of the mac mini. I would say that the mac is more the BMW of computers. The The Ultimate Computing Machine.

BMWs are decent looking, but they're too fast to be comparable to Apple's. :p Also, they're not nearly reliable enough to be compared to Apple's.

Apple = Lexus ;) ...which is an upscale toyota... not everyone can afford them but they are classy and reliable.
</thought for the day>

Toyota and Lexus are boring and uninspired. When I see a Toyota or Lexus, I don't stare at them like I do when comparing Macs to other computers.

I say Audi, because I cannot think of a single mainstream car brand that focuses so much attention and resources to design, aesthetics and engineering within it's products... many parallels can be drawn between the two brands.

Yeah, I think Apple and Audi are a good comparison as well, but for different reasons. Like Apple, Audi concentrate a lot of their effort at aestethetics, but everyone knows they're not the highest performers on the road. :p A lot is paid for aesthetics, though. Too bad they're not reliable, which like the BMW, doesn't make it the best comparison.

How about Apple = Acura TL or TSX?

Okay, sorry to be posting again, but seeing as how I'm a Canadian living in Australia right now, I have never seen a Scion before.

I just went to the website, and all I have to say is this: The xB is the ugliest car in the Universe. It looks like it could be a bit hit in Japan, though. :p

I don't know. I can't tell the difference by sight, but seeing as how it's not as wet in Australia as it is in Canada, I'm guessing that the metal in Australia doesn't do as poorly.

Actually, Canadian metal isn't bad. I believe a company called Stelco in Hamilton, Ontario, produces a lot of it.

I would rather the TSX because it's a bit more trendy/sporty while preserving the luxurious feel, plus, it has gotten amazing reviews from all magazines, not just publications about vehicles.

Haha, at least somebody agrees w/ me! :D

i had to take a comparison between apple and a car manufacturer where i had to decide on reliability, (everything in the right place) design, and _marketshare_ i think Porsche comes closest .. highest reliability ratings for cars 8 years, 12 years, 15 years old and beyond in german ADAC and austrian ÖAMTC breakdown statistics
sure in the first few years toyotas(and mercedes) have the advantage but after a few years they get handed down pretty quickly (and yes toyotas don't have less breakdowns because of electronics than mercedes)
and now they got even more affordable ;)

seriously any company if it's bmw (way too much rice-up factor for me here), audi (with the new grill: thumbs up, rest: yawn, too much VW-a-like) or even toyota are selling WAY better than macs

and to compare toyota/lexus with apple ..that's like comparing Skoda with Apple

The xB's and tC's are delicious!! My girlfriend and I are putting an order in this weekend! The order would have been in today, we just can't decide on the color!! The "Polar White" looks goooooood!!!

I was interested in the "new" Scion concepts and found a picture of a 2006 concept. Called the t2B. I love the head lights and wheels. It is a much better looking box, if you must go down the whole box route.

Man every time I see the tB's I cant help blurting out loud how ugly they look, maybe its just me but the boxy design looks cheap and just screams out I'm a wannabe trendy vehicle and my owner doesn’t know anything about style or spending a little more to get a decent looking vehicle. Unless the owners trying to go for the retro look, either way you shake your style stick at the tB it needs to be beaten rather hard and for long periods by it to even be remotely appealing. The t2B looks better but still far down there on the fugly scale imho.

I've always loved the tC cars anyways they look rather slick for being inexpensive, a nice first time car it seems.

Just a bump, because I'm considering an Xb as my next car. I hated them at first, but after being in one, I fell in love with it. It's small, but extremely roomy. The upgrades don't cost too much, and the one I priced out is just under 16k.

Anyone driving thsese yet? Have any problems? Do you by chance have to drive in snow, and how does it handle in that? Does it come with tinted windows (it doesn't say on the site)? Andif you ahve the iPod audio unit, is it pretty sexy?

There are some good customer reviews over at epinions.com

It got 4.5 out of 5 stars.

ugh...those Scions that are shaped like a box are fugly.

I like the tC a lot, though.

The tC looks like a Honda Civic, which is a troubling choice.

While the xB is ugly, it's also cute and amazingly functional. I don't think that I would buy one but it is an interesting choice.

Um.....why isn't it yellow, and where is the STOP-sign that swings outwards from the side whenever you open the front door?

ROTFLMAF!!!!!

Actually, I was *this* close to buying a tC. Its a great car for the $$$$. I also considered the xB, and I would agree that inside it's a great car . . . I just couldn't get over the looks.

In the end, I went with an Accord -- the lease deal was too good to pass up!

I'd rather my people not be sold into slavery. Sending money is a gift that is never troublesome. My address is...

I have a 2006 Blue Onyx Pearl xB and it's the best freakin' car I ever had. It gets 35MPG. There is no car in the xB's price range that offers more. Most people hate the look of the xB, which is fine by me, I enjoy having a car that you don't see too often!

Volvo is probably a good comparison -- which would make the G5 tower like an XC90 and the Mac Mini like a Ford Five Hundred or something, I suppose.

I drive a Scion xA (I think I have a picture of it under the cars post, but I'm not sure..). It's a great little car, very reliable, great gas mileage, great price! I'm really pleased with it, and I've found it suitably roomy inside for a "compact" car. I managed to pick up my family from the airport, all four of them and their luggage managed to fit without too much trouble!

my mac sticker is on the back window too! :D

Excellent. Thanks for your input. I'll be buying one in about a year (my car still has 4 months to pay off, and i want a big screen TV after that, so I'll have to save some money).

We're a Toyota family. We currently have a Toyota Highlander and a Corolla. I'm planning on getting the tC next summer. I have about 12,000 saved up. Currently a Freshman @ TCNJ so no parking.
