This is why I moved to the large phones a long time ago. Ever since I have been hoping that one day a device will come along that is both pocketable and has great battery life. I thought the 16 Pro was that device based on all the battery hype talk. Reality is that all of the publications are really just marketing engines. For a moderately heavy/heavy user, the 16 Pro is not good enough. That's about typical for the smaller size if you're a heavy user. One reason I moved to a PM this year was because by the 18 month mark I was usually topping up on my way home from work to get through the end of the day without the battery going flat.
Thanks for this, will check it out! Also starting to see decent battery performance after a week, but weirdly enough got the message ”update finishing in background” showing up again today. So that should still be messing up the %.I did end up tweaking quite a few settings which seemed to get about 15-20% extra by the end of the day.
Same here, I just checked my battery info today and notice "ongoing device setup" came back on. I think it's overall hard for everyday users to really judge battery life from device to device without a longer trial period. I'm pretty sure most people increase usage the first week or so when they get their new phone. Thanks for this, will check it out! A few factors at play here, potentiallyBased on my typical usage, I am literally burning one charge cycle per day on the iPhone 16 Pro. I really wanted to go with the smaller device, but now I am not sure if this is a good idea. I am really liking the size, even though I came from multiple consecutive generations of Pro Max devices. The Pro Max is just an unwieldy large slab, and this year it is even bigger. I have two Pro Max devices in hand right now and a single Pro, and the Pro has been like a magnet. But...with this burn rate, I think a year from now the battery life will already be down to 90%. As is, the small device doesn't have great battery life. So, what to do? Anyone else in a similar situation? What did you decide and why?
(Note that I am now on a bi-annual upgrade cycle since the devices are virtually unchanged from one year to the other, so coming off of the 14 Pro Max now. Up to the 14-series, I was upgrading annually.)
Trying it out a little bit and have had different limits. Mostly on 90%, right now on 95% for tomorrow. Think one just have to see what works best on how low you can have it, without being too low. If I know in advance that I need full capacity of some reason I have no problem setting it to 100% with optimised charging. If one is uncertain this is what I would just recommend. Can I ask whether anyone has set a battery charge limit and if so what that is?
One option would be to buy a cheap feature phone and voice plan, and setup a call divert when unavailable on your iphone number to divert to it.Made the decision at the end to swap for the Pro Max. Battery is just causing me too much anxiety. If I am out for hours on end, I don’t want to have to think about whether I’m running on empty. Despite the love for the smaller size, the piece of mind with the Pro Max outweighs the smaller device convenience.
This is a great idea! I use my Apple Watch this way, but sometimes it’s not enough. If I had a simple dumb phone and set up call forwarding, then I would not have as much need to carry around the large brick that is the 16PM. 🤔One option would be to buy a cheap feature phone and voice plan, and setup a call divert when unavailable on your iphone number to divert to it.
My 15 Pro was 92% and 430 cycles, just under 1 year.Sigh. I likely had a bad experience with my 15PM. A year later, the battery health dropped to 88%, and that really worries me.
