Is anyone else concerned why there has not been any online pre-orders yet?

With Tiger, I remember a good 20 days or so before its release, they began taking pre-orders and you received it the day or the day before release, depending on Fedex.

At this point, we might be down to 13 days.

I wonder, if they won't be able to have enough pressed by then, and they might skip online orders for the start, and make you go to the physical stores to buy?

They wnat to save some breathing room until they are certain the internal build is going to be GM material. Once that is established, then they will be able to start making promises. Right now its all speculation

Amazon Pre-order

Had my Leopard pre-ordered from Amazon for about a month now. Delivery scheduled for Oct. 31.

Well I know Amazon is taking pre-orders.

Which really doesn't mean anything I've seen amazon take pre-orders on the DVD of a film I know has been cancelled. In other words amazon tend to go over the top on adding products that don't yet (and may never in some cases) exist!

I'm certainly looking forward to Leopard although I'm certainly in no great need. Tiger works fine for me for all the work I need to get done. It's only the consumerist in me that's impatient ;).

With the upgrade, from OS/X 10.4.10 do I need to buy a full version of Leopard and do the upgrade or will there will a upgrade package that is cheaper than the listed $129.00 price?

i cant wait...i also bought a new 200gb hd for my macbook as well. bring on leopard and will put vista ultimate on there with bootcamp

Everybody gets the same thing. It's essentially an upgrade version from whatever your Mac originally shipped with, as all Macs come with a fully licensed version of OS X.

So yes, you'll need the $129 version, although you may be able to find it for a bit cheaper in some places or at a student price if you qualify. There's also the family pack for those with multiple Macs in the house.

Thank you

I have been going to the apple store on the web daily, or more often. I have been wondering the very same thing....:(

I'll do the archive and install option again. A clean install is great, but it's too much work for me. :)

Doubt there will be a pre-order until the media event that is sure to happen some time in the next week or so.

Saying that, I'll be in the Apple store in Birmingham on the day it's released with my bank card in hand waiting for the family pack.

$129 _is_ the upgrade price, since there is no Macintosh that doesn't have some version of MacOS installed.

I am also worried,

I want to order my copy before this Friday because next week I am on the road and not able to order. So please Steve make my wishes come thru

Also give us the iPhone soon, I feel so 90ties with my Nokia ;)
