I miss the days of Steve where things would actually be a surprise, I feel like this ruins the fun and you already know everything that is coming.

It's because Steve would fire people left and right and send lawyers after anyone involved.

Why is Apple to blame? You are the one that has read the rumors. Looks to me like you lack self-discipline and are looking for Apple to be your scapegoat.

That's pretty much it. Believe me, you have to actively seek out this stuff. I mentioned to a co-worker the other day that I was thinking of getting the new iPhone that debuts next week and her response was, "There's a new iPhone coming? Already??" In fact, I get that response from people every year when I bring it up. The only people who know too much about this release are people who actively seek out reports on leaks.

We should turn off all devices, tv's, internet, newspapers, magazines etc 3-6 months before the next iPhone is out.
I cannot take these leaks any more, I want to be wowed and surprised with the keynote like back in the day with Steve.
Not like they would ever lose a whole brand new iPhone before at a bar and everything about the next new iPhone would be revealed and device be taken apart before it's even announced.
I miss those days:D

to be fair, more leaks come out every year. But apple does it on purpose. most companies do. nothing new.

Yes, disappointed. But not for the reasons you'd think.

I'm disappointed that the apparent leaks suggest a device form and appearance I don't particularly like.

I'm still hopeful it's all been one big charade and what Apple releases doesn't look anything like the 'leaks'.

I can hope at least.

I can sort of understand your sentiment, in that it was quite exciting (even exhilarating) watching the keynote presentations for previous releases since we had absolutely no idea what Apple had in store for us.

But given that we are paying a pretty penny for iPhones these days, the leaks are welcomed - more time to prepare and decide!

And on top of that, most of us are enthusiasts. We intentionally seek out this information. For a layperson, they will be none the wiser.

I was dying to know. Now still excited but a bit disappointed that I know so much. My own fault. We still don't know when we get our hands on it!

John Gruber wrote it was most likely an inside job - the GM was always available but hidden by a very long URL. Apparently an Apple employee sent that URL to 9to5 Mac and this site. I wonder if that's the real story and if so why an Apple employee would do that.

Leaks are good. Knowing what it looks is good. This gives me time to make a decision before committing. All I need to do is sift through facts I watch on Keynote - that's surprise enough.

I was shocked this year how much and how fast the leaks were happening through the HomePod and now the Golden Master. Even Macrumors was posting articles left and right about something new on the hour. I find it fairly interesting to read, but as others have said, to understand all of what's been leaked, you do have to search for it. I'm connected to the tech world, where others are not. But I none of this dissapoints men what leaked, it actually increases my liking for this new iPhone even more.

Not disappointed, don't forget we will still hear all the information and get demos on most of the stuff, yea we know what's coming but we don't know all of the facts and haven't seen the demos.

When that happened I immediately got the shirt. I have it around here somewhere.

No. The reason? ...I'm not 5 years old. :D

I'm not sure why they still do this. I mean, they wip it out and say "It's a phone!". Geesh. :D

Anyway, it's not like your paying for the keynote. Just think of it like today was your Keynote (moved up a few days, without slide shows)

Not at all. We still don't know how exactly the real thing will look in person and how each colour will look. Or what improvements have been made to the camera, iPhone X only camera features, how it will perform with iOS 11, how the new chip will perform etc

You wouldn't check football scores if you wanted them to be a surprise when you watch the highlights on tv. So why click links to all the details if you don't want it spoiling?

Short answer: no.
Btw, this proves one thing: no matter how hard you try to cover, it will always be leaked in a form, in a way no one anticipate.

I will be super curious to see what apple could announce after all of those leaks, something that has not been leaked just yet.

I've avoided reading about the more recent leaks because I want leave something for Apple to reveal. So no, can't say I'm disappointed.

Something else I find interesting, is how many non-related tech sites even report some of the latest Apple news. It just shows you how Strong of a following this company has.
