4.04 fixed the data drop issue. Also a large device like the iPad has more room for a large antenna. The iPhone does not.

I haven't had any issues with signal on my 4s compared to the nexus. Hopefully the next iPhone is as good as the iPad when it comes to lte.

AT&T Service

Did the hard reboot help? Is Virgin's help line any help? Are there any Virgin stores near you to go to for advice?

With my iPhone 3G, I have to remember to turn off the 3G to get 5 bars for voice in my apartment (where I use wireless for data) - maybe there's a wrinkle like that for 4S data service.

Anecdotal evidence aside, "Consumer Reports" readers rate AT&T's service as the worst in every market, for both contract and prepaid service. Sprint and Verizon are rated in the middle or at the top. For prepaid, Virgin is in a 3-way tie for 2nd place with Straight Talk and T-Mobile.

I'm waiting to see how the Virgin iPhone shakes out before buying one, but I can't wait. The plan I'ill use with Virgin will save me $60 a month over what I pay now to AT&T. Even though the phone will cost $400 more than a 2-year contract phone, the service savings will pay that back in less than 7 months.

I'm NOT going back to Android. Sorry. Android is no longer an option for me.

My humble opinion is return the phone, go to the apple store and buy an unlocked iPhone, then get a straight talk sim card. As an 2 days old ex-sprint customer (after 7 years) you are headed to the worst experience you can't imagine. Straight Talk uses At&t antennas and is 20 times better. Good Luck!

I was talking to some Radio Shack employees the other day and they said that they tested out the iPhone on launch day for VM and that they were getting good speeds like any other network on 3G. Maybe because I live in a city...as opposed to a more remote area.

Since when is this forum a big android commercial? I don't know much about virgin so I can't help but I won't be reccomending any android junk.

Android itself is a great operating system. It's just that once you put it on mediocre hardware and add carrier bloatware and overlays on top of the stock experience you get 'junk'.
