Just got this out of the blue. Haven't recently updated iOS. I'm on 18.1

The alert says:

"New iCloud Terms & Conditions: To use iCloud on this iPhone, you must accept the new iCloud Terms & Conditions, and enter your iPhone passcode."

The alert came through Notification Center and if I go into Settings it's in there too, but it seems sus.

I got that too (on 17.7.1). If I actually try to do it then it instantly comes up with "Verification Failed: There was a problem connecting to the server." I'm just ignoring it.

Hmm... And did your alert say the exact same thing mine said about you must "enter your iPhone passcode?" I'm weirded out because I've never gotten this type of alert when I wasn't actually running an iOS update...

Yep, same message. I wasn't doing anything at the time (it actually popped up last night and I didn't notice until the morning).

I received that message a while ago, during one of the later 18.1 betas. You need to accept it for AI and some other features to work properly. If you missed or dismissed it, you should be able to go into Settings->Your Account->iCloud+ and it should popup again.

I just got it on my ip13ProMax on 17.7.1... I don't understand... what's going on? why would I accept something I wasn't told about or have any data on?... wish they would just say what changed...

I did, about an hour ago.

I haven’t done anything yet because it wants me to enter my passcode.

Is entering your passcode normal for accepting new terms and conditions?

Same here! Well, I accepted it. There was some message / notification after it (after entering my passcode) which dissapeared and I cannot see it anymore … what was written in it. Said something about passwords if I am correct from the short glimpse when I saw it. Anyone has exact text of that message?

Well, it popped up again this morning, and I was able to accept the new terms. Now all my Notes are gone.

Edit: After going to Settings/Apple ID/iCloud/Apps using iCloud, Show All/Notes, they then showed up again. I didn't have to actually change any settings, just apparently "remind" the phone that it's supposed to have them!

Edit 2: Evidently not just me!

More crap.... why bother with terms and conditions. Apple change them whenever they feel like it and they often times don't even tell you what they've changed so you either agree or you just don't use the Service.

Buy a phone that cost nearly $2000 and then find you can't use it unless you agree to terms and conditions that run dozens and dozen pages and could be changed at any time at the whim of Apple.

Time to stop buying Apple I think had enough of this ********

You can still use the phone without using iCloud storage etc. I see nothing wrong with Apple making people read the TOS and either agree to service (or not).

I also got the message. The problem with not agreeing is that you’ll lose access to a great many things if you forgo all iCloud services.

I don’t agree with much of what the EC is doing to Apple with the DMA, but forcing better integration with third party services is beneficial in not being totally beholden to Apple.

You do realize that this has become the norm for more than a decade, right? Go ahead and try to use any cloud service or software without signing your rights away. Let me know when you find a whole suite of cloud services like iCloud (photos, file syncing, email, notes, passwords, messages, calendar, health data), even one by one, that doesn’t require agreement to a thousands-of-words TOS that can change at any time.

I just got this notification. I can’t remember ever having to put my passcode in to accept a change for terms and conditions.

Has anyone figured out what the change to the terms are? One might think since Apple is trying to position themselves as a defender of privacy that they would maybe summarize the changes in plain English, but somehow they forgot to do that.

Is this a USA only change or are people in other countries getting this message as well?

Belgium here, received it only on my iPad (17.7.1), not iPhone (18.1)...

I'm in the UK and got it a couple of days ago.

I had it on my iPad but not my iPhone (both running on 18.1).

Not noticed anything odd on my iPad since I accepted it.

I’m using version 18.1 On my iPhone. Installed the OS a few days after release.

Last evening, I got the same iCloud terms notification in settings. I started to read the terms of service , and it mentioned something about photos. I have to admit that I got bored, then accepted. shame on me 😡

It was followed by a screen asking for my password. I entered it, then thought WTF did I just do???

I’m a bit concerned about this as I’ve never received terms in this way or requiring me to enter my password.

Some mentioned they put their password in. Did the rest of you all put in your password after agreeing to the new terms?

I think, if I remember correctly, that it asked for my passcode not password.

I did this once before and with this past update, it's asking again. It's only asking on the iPhone(11) but not the iPad(9). Apple knows how jittery we can be and instead of laughing at us lol, they should say something to calm us who maybe are high strung for nothing.
:)o_O
This seems to have been an issue a few years back.
