I did not, but I tried installing from the App Store and got the same error. I’ll create a bootable USB stick with 15.4 and update here if it works. Thanks for the suggestion.
EDIT: Tried to install using the full sequoia 15.4 installer but couldn’t even boot after (error: The version of macOS on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled). Reinstalled 15.3.2 and will stay on this version until Apple releases a fix.
This happened to me , too. Tried to erase mac and reinstall from Recovery but getting "The version of macOS on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled". Had to downgrade to 15.2 to fix this , and now I cannot update.
MacBook (M1 Pro 16" 2021) upgrading from 15.3.2 to 15.4 - same error "Can't ignore lock validation". Managed by Jamf Pro. I downloaded the full installer using softwareupdate in the terminal.app. The update will not complete. This is very frustrating.
I successfully performed the DFU restore of the machine. Worked great, took maybe 20 minutes. I think that should work for all. Unless you have data you haven’t backed up.
