Usually, they carry the pre-configured models, so like what you see on the site without making any changes.
Someone mentioned in another thread that they'll often also have one non-standard configuration in stock (I'm hoping for an M1 Pro with 32gb). Don't know for certain if this is the case, but years ago when I purchased a MBP from the local Apple Store, it was indeed what would ordinarily be a BTO configuration (I think it had a slightly higher resolution screen, and a faster CPU).

The non preconfigured models that are carried are usually maxed out or close to it

Only one when I went for my 16 inch in 2019 was like 4 tb memory and 64gb ram etc.

I plan on trading in my MacBook Pro on Tuesday. To speed up the process do you think I should trade it in for the gift card today?

* I am not considering selling

So if we have a long order time. Mine is currently Dec 9th can we edit our current order to see if we can do instore on Tuesday if our SKU is available? Or do we just ride it out. ?

Can’t swap it to in store, but they don’t charge you until it’s ready to be shipped so you can just head to the store and buy one then cancel the other one

That would be perfect for me. I hope to get so lucky.

I'm personally hoping for a configuration with 32gb of RAM, but either with a Pro, or a Max with 24-core GPU. For my usage, the stock Max configuration with 32-core GPU is overkill, but if there's no in-between option available, I'll probably just go for that anyway, though I haven't ruled out the 16gb/1TB Pro configuration (I don't think I truly need 32gb of RAM).
