I cant believe it. Ive had the phone for the week and no matter what i do, most if not all of my photos look grainy and like slight water color paintings so i got an appointment to get it looked at at noon today.

Heres some examples!

Ive changed the settings, made sure i had the latest update, checked the exposure levels, etc and at first i thought it was maybe a low light issue, but the final issue of my setup, its in full blast 100% white hue lights and its still grainy...so i contacted apple and they said it might be a hardware issue as they dignosed the software and said it was fine...

Here is also a simular comparison from the 10X Max (which i traded in for the 11 pro) and the 11..notice the 10x max doesnt have the gain in the trees as the 11 does... all simular lighting conditions and settings as best i could replicate them! (10 is the first one, the 11 the 2nd)

I can only see low light photos here.
BTW it is difficult to judge from those photos.
What I can say is photos on my 11 Pro (identical to the Max) are spectacular and surely not grainy even in low light conditions (within limits).

Mine are grainy regardless....the last image of my desk, is in full blast 100% lights on, its blinding in that room, and i still see a ton of grain!

If you can release an image with EXIF data we can then look at the information captured to ascertain if it is a hardware issue. Just make sure the image you release is again during the day with good bright light. Looking to make the camera have very little difficulty in producing the picture.

i had apple diagnose it remotely and they said for sure the software is fine.. it has to be hardware!

Here are some more examples...Notice the lensflare off the building in Manhattan, and the other selfie which is in portrate mode but still grainy, also notice the grain on the images i just took on my driveway and street, there is still noise, and yes the lighting conditions arent perfect but i mean common...my old phone never did it like that..

Are you using the ultra wide on the 11 Pro? The ultra wide is significantly worse in low light.

Not to discount a possible hardware problem, but all of the last photos except the selfie are again low-light photos. The selfie was done with the front camera and your computer monitors providing most of the light, which is going to be lower quality. Any photos in daylight? Full daylight?

not at the moment but i havent had a bit of pure daylight that wasnt cloudy or foggy in a while. But ive had multiple friends and people tell me on photos of them, (which i wont post here) that it looks grainy to them as well.

Im thinking its a bad sensor or lense or something!

Can't be a bad sensor ! You are using both front and rear cameras !

I had a problem where pics would appear blurry in the photo gallery, but if I zoomed in and out they would be sharp. Fixed it by going to settings and hanging format to compatible. Not sure if that is the problem you are facing though.

I have the 11 pro max have the grainy pictures so I have opted to have the phone replaced as I have only had it for 1 month. I also have issues with the sound while talking on the phone volume is at max but still hard to hear the person talking

UPDATE...i got mine replaced and allready i noticed a improvement in picture and video quality. There still is some grain in low light situations esp on video but its alot less then before, but once i adjust the exposure i can eliminate most of it. Ill upload some test photos i took...but allready its vasty superior to the last one. I think i just got a faulty unit...

here is some test images..ill run more tomarrow and in the next few days when i get some free time to really test it out!

Doesn't even look like there's anything wrong with the photos or your phone. Its just noisy because they're low light shots (a bright room is not the same as an outdoor shot during the day). Take photos again in the evening and you'll see the same grain.

I went to the Apple store and got it exchanged as they said they saw an unusual amount of grain and noise in the image, and processed a exchange for the exact same model!

So far the new one doesn’t have nearly as much noise or grain inThe image as the last one, of course with a little light settings there will always be a little bit! But compared to the last one, the new one is much improved!

Your photos posted aren’t full resolution, just 4mp in size. Just to show you what one of mine looks like in low light, this is with the 2x lens at ISO 2000, which is high, but it’s low light in portrait mode.

At this level of ISO, I think it looks pretty good. Since your iPhone swap out, hopefully you’ll get quality like I have in this image at high ISO.

thats a fantastic shot. I notice theres still a bit of "Texture" to the image, which i guess is ultimatly unavoidable..but did you shoot that with the native camera app or a 3rd party one because i have filmic pro which i am still learning how to use!

Thanks... it was just a quick low light test. This was taken with the native app in portrait mode. I used the portrait mode to force the iPhone to use the 2X camera instead of using a third party app.

I have filmicpro as well for video, also have the photo app. But my favorite third party app at the mommies Camera-M. It says it uses deep fusion and smart HDR. It also has focus tracking... keep in touch,

Todd
