For one selfie I took with it the yellow background literally became the outline

And then in these two photos certain edges are blurred out for no reason

That’s... that’s what Portrait mode does. It makes a bokeh effect.

Look closer to the top of the statue, the hat is blurred wrong. And the bottom right of the statue as well.

We can only hope edge detection software wise gets better. Mine does it every now and then, but I’m used to it/take multiple photos at different angles with the hope I’ll get a different outcome.

Do you reckon it’ll be part of iOS updates?

Did portrait mode without the lighting effects suck too?

Its not most of the time unfortunately, and it's so shameful that apple advertises this as a great feature

Not all the time but if you want to see it that way, that is fine too.

The way this thing works it will always have trouble with the edges that have high detail in it. Hair is especially bad and is what I see messed up the most.

I never use it but understand how other would want too. Been using DSLR's for so long for this to make me happy.

Whether front or back camera, only about 1/2 of my "Portrait Mode" photos are any good. For the Stage Light Mono, all are horrible.
