My iPhone X seems to be suffering with some mild burn-in from the bottom menu bar being displayed all the time. Is anyone else seeing this?

It's easier to see on dark backgrounds but it's pretty much there all the time.

Try saving the dark grey image and testing it on yours to see if it's the same too.

I kinda expected this to happen a lot later in the phone's life, not within the first month. :(

I have to use a lot of imagination to see anything in the first image.

In the second image, my imagination fails me.
Sorry! I know it's not the most evident but the top image shows how the menu bar is still slightly there on the screen even though it isn't supposed to be showing. The bottom image is just a grey colour for you to save and see for yourself if your phone has burn-in. :)

don't worry about it too much, use it for as long as you can, and once it gets worse, take it back for a new one under warranty. That's what I would do. OLED is prone to this kind of stuff. The OLEd tech is still in its infancy.

There is a faint but noticeable home bar in the image of your X’s screen.

Edit: think you should consider making an appointment and have it check out. It shouldn't show any signs of burn-in at such an early stage. FYI, I have been using an S7 Edge for well over a year prior to X. The OLED panel on it is still burn-in free.

Got the same thing with my Moto X after 6 months of use. A permanent home button at the bottom of the OLED screen. Thought Apple uses a software trick to avoid those burn-in issues...

There really should be an option to hide the bar. We all know how to swipe up without a visual cue. Anyhow, I be noticed that it switches between white and black. Maybe that’s the burn-in reduction?

For the record, I’ve been using mine from day one without any issues.

Some of you apple fanatics fear mongered so much about OLED display burns that you’re now paranoid. There is no burn in. You wouldn’t have burn in this early unless your phones screen is on 24/7 with no break. Secondly burn ins aren’t a major issue with modern OLED displays. Especially with Samsung. Samsung in my opinion has the highest quality screens on the market.

Stop being paranoid and enjoy your phone.

My X is in use since day 1 (3. Nov) and i did the test with this picture but nothing to see. I‘ve read a lot about this burning in thing but i‘m still not sure if this is something permanent or if it may go away.

Yikes, that's clearly visible in the first photo but I wonder if its image retention, which is temporary versus burn in which is permanent?

Regardless, my iPhone was purchased under the holiday return policy which extends to January 8th. If I see that on mine it's going back.
