On a jet plane
I seem to be having problems with video playback on YouTube. The videos are loading fine but I'm not getting any sound. Anybody else getting this problem?

I've tried on both Safari and Camino.

Works fine for me too, the only problem I do have is sometimes my searches will yield no results. Even if it's something very common, or something I've searched for before.

Fishes,
narco.

i cant get sound either...only that has sound on the net is movie trailers on apple.com

Me too, me too!

I've been experiencing the same thing on MacBook OS X 10.4.8 / Safari and Firefox for some time now and it's driving me nuts. If anyone knows of a fix, or has any insight into this issue at all, pleeeeease let me know.

Thanks

Try this:

1. Open Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup
2. Left side of the window, halfway down there is a selection box for "Properties For:" - select "Built-in Audio" here (should have the Apple logo next to it).
3. Under that you'll see a series of drop boxes under Audio Input. Find the one marked "Format:" and change it from "96000.0 Hz" to "48000.0Hz". Close Audio MIDI Setup and try something with Flash audio.

I had a problem with the audio a while ago. This seemed to fix it. :)

I 'WAS' having the same problems...fixed.

I was having these same problems - wouldn't stream any audio over the internet. Youtube would bring up the video feeds but no audio; same for any myspace audio, etc...as suggested by 'Monke' do the following...works perfectly!

Thanks.

Youtube

Hi,

I'm also having problems with youtube, only it won't let me see any of the videos and when I do click on a video it sends me a message saying;

Bad request

does anyone know what this means?
any advice would be much appreciated

Aimz ;)

I would like to ask you if anyone else has the same problem with me.

I have received a few youtube links that have the following structure : http://www.youtube.com/watch#%21v=6j5iDcp2pXc . The video does not play at all. But when I replace #%21 with ? the video plays normally. My question is why I come across with so many videos in the the web with the bad structure? And is that only mine problem or a general one?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

P.S. I have not met a similar thread so I decided to post my question here.

That is caused usually if you have a slow Internet connection or you watch a video with a very high resolution (HD trailer for example). It is normal.:)

I cant watch any second video on youtube

Well, hello I am new on MacRumors,I have problems with youtube too, I have a macbook pro with mac os x 10.5.6, I did not have any problems until this week. When I go to youtube, every thing is fine on the first video but after it, the page freezes and the only I can do is close it. I have been working on it, but is useless.

Can anybody helpme please

4 years old, to be precise. Oh, good old days of the Tiger...

I think the PowerPCs were on sale back then... No C2D, maybe not even Core Duo yet.

Didn't work for me

This fix didn't work. I can open one youtube video, then I open the second and there's audio but it stays hung on the first video (visually). Then when I try to open something else, it just hangs and I have to close my Safari window and start again. This has been happening for about a month (so I'm not using it much - too irritating). I haven't updated anything recently so don't know what is happening.

Try this:

1. Open Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup
2. Left side of the window, halfway down there is a selection box for "Properties For:" - select "Built-in Audio" here (should have the Apple logo next to it).
