Hi all,

Not sure if this is due to the 10.5.4 update or not, but shortly after upgrading... my iMac (Core Duo 1.8ghz) randomly rebooted while it was just sitting there, doing nothing. I've had this happen in the past, but I traced it to having AirPort internet sharing on without having the AirPort radio on. None of that is going on now... so I'm wondering what the culprit might be. Any guesses... past experiences?

I have the same problem, whilst just sitting there doing nothing the gears would come up and the iMac would restart itself, tried calling Apple, they only said to bring the iMac in to a Apple Store, with the nearest store 3 hours away that's no option!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What are the Energy Saver > Schedule settings? Check them to see if somehow your computer has been set to reboot.

Try moving com.apple.scheduler.plist [User > Library > Preferences] to the Trash (but don't delete - yet) and then rebooting. Hopefully, you can then go back to SysPrefs and reset Energy Saver. If things return to normal, you can delete the old pref file.

They can also send you a box to mail to them I believe.
