Mail will easily get my email from Yahoo and Gmail with no problem. But I've been staring at 105 new messages (shows up when I hit get mail) and yet Mail doesn't load the messages. It does this for the first few minutes and then it'll work but today I've been waiting for 30 min and still nothing. WTH???

I've had serious problems with Cox forwarding SMTP traffic when I visit my Mom. She's got that ISP, and they aren't awesome.

Mail wouldn't work for me, but if I logged into the Mobile Me site, it worked immediately there, so I knew it was the non-web traffic. Same with Gmail.

Initial indications were the SMTP was blocked if you didn't use a Cox email address. So even though my email client (Mail) was connecting to a valid account at a top tier email host, it wouldn't work from within their network. I never got around to trying different ports or anything.

Good luck getting through their attempted security measures. All it does is break people who use their competitors. Real spammers would be caught by the volume of mail sent, not their SMTP host.
