Or is it just me? Literally the only thing that appeals to me about the iPad pro is the Apple pencil. The air 2 is the perfect sized device for me (the iPad pro is huge!). I am hopeful that apple just plans to milk the pro release, and will announce an air 3 will pencil support not long after.

My gut tells me they will keep the pencil iPad pro exclusive. Personally speaking I'm just fine with that.

You're far from alone. There are a lot of us who have been putting up with the crummy capacitive stylus options that have been available thus far. For me, an iPad Mini would stylus support would have been close to perfect. An iPad Mini with 4 GB instead of 2 GB (basically, the internals of the Pro), would have been even better.

I would be surprised if the other iPads don't receive stylus support at some point in the future. I don't expect it to happen sooner than 2-3 years, though, as Apple will try to keep the iPad Pro differentiated beyond the screen size, at least until it's a more established product. They'll probably need to figure out how to get the active digitizer into the smaller iPads without going back on their size and weight, as well.

I am absolutely with you!
Actually I own no laptop anymore since I bought the iPad air.

Basically my setup is:
- serious creation of documents: at the office with my mac
- creation of first draft of documents when I visit customers: iPad air - i Use word, excel and PowerPoint, then polish them at the office
- review of documents: definitely iPad air, and here comes: I use mostly good reader with a bamboo stylus
- I also use citrix to access Windows environment from the iPad from time to time for "emergencies" such as access to exchange fileserver, and windows only software. I attach it to an apple keyoboard which I keep in my luggage and use when needed.
- document consumption on the couch: iPad air

I miss:
- a more precise stylus
- mouse
- multitasking
on the iPad air.

IPad pro? By far too big!
Mac book? useless to review documents with the stylus.

So, I'm stuck at the moment and will have to continue with my crippled experience. Starting to think about a surface...

Yep, I'd be throwing money at Apple if they made Air or Mini sized iPads that support the Pencil. However, I'm guessing it won't happen until Air 4 at the earliest. I expect the Air 3 will probably get 3D touch though.

I have mixed feelings about it. I do think the Air hits the sweet spot as far as overall device size, but 10" is a pretty small screen for stylus use. I think it will be much better on the larger screen, even if the device is a little less portable and more cumbersome. That said, it would be nice if it were at least supported across the entire iPad line - both to help make the Pencil a success and long-term part of Apple's ecosystem, and also because I'm sure some people who want a Pencil do prefer the smaller devices.

#1. Will Apple give the iPAd Air Pencil Stylus Support ? No Never it would ruin iPad Pro sales. Buy a ASUS Z580CA (look it up) it has Stylus Support can do most anything the iPad Pro can $399

#2. Same reason Apple will never give, the iPad Pro full MacOS Capability it would ruin Laptop sales.

@TheRealAlex: That would be crazy... Obviously the stylus will be used more together with the iPAd pro by designers, while managers will use it mostly on the iPad air.

I do not even see a potential cannibalization between the two devices, as they are so different in size!

Apple should get rid of the 9.7" option since it's too big for one handed use and too small for two handed and productivity. Pen option on the 7.9" makes more sense since you can easily hold it in one hand while pencil in the other. If you can't easily hold it then it had better be big enough for productivity and creativity and where the iPad Pro makes the most sense.

This is non-sense. The 9.7 is the same size of my moleskine notebook. It is the perfect size to take notes for me. Also, when you are working on pdfs or presentations, the iPad mini is too small to visualize full documents.
iPad pro is too large to use and transport in my case, specially if you fly a lot.

Umm...I use my ipad all the time one-handed, and paired with a keyboard, I'm editing a novel on it. My husband uses his to illustrate.

You seem to be selling the device short. Either you don't own one, in which case you just don't know what you're talking about, or you haven't actually tried to do much with yours.

Apple has no problem cannibalizing it's own products. Why wait around for someone else to?
