Maybe strange. But I think it was the right choice. If you're really curious I could send a message with my reasoning later =)

I'm always curious. Go on then. It's always interesting to find out why people's things that you think are 'strange. They usually have their reasons.

I didn't like iOS 7 as well but had to update it because of the jail break and I have to say it improves the battery life and makes the iPhone faster. The only problem is that it is too white but you'll get used to the flat UI as everything these days is going flat.

I too am seeing an increase in battery life. I have an iPhone 5 that was at 6.1.2 with the JB. I was apprehensive at first, but now I'm really liking iOS 7. My fear is that if you wait too long, 7.1 will be out and the window to upgrade to 7.0.4 will be very short since Apple will be plugging holes.

As promised, here is my reasoning - part of it has been posted in other threads...

The way I saw this jailbreak season was that I wanted to pick an iOS version, jailbreak, and keep it forever until I replace this phone - that's how I normally operate. There were 3 options because I started on ios 6.1.4

6.1.4
Pros: This is a final software release for iOS 6. It is very smooth, not buggy and generally much snappier than iOS 7.0.4. All the jailbreak tweaks work for it. I know how to make themes on it. Basically it is tried and true.

Cons: Waiting for ih8sn0w to release the untethered jailbreak. Eventually iOS 6 will stop being supported. Much sooner than iOS 7 will.

7.0.4
Pros: iOS 7 so it will be supported and used to optimize apps and tweaks for much longer than iOS 6.1.4 counterpart.

Cons: Seems to be buggy and slow. I don't really like the visual appearance of the icons. Might drain battery a little faster than 6.1.4. Will have to wait for mobile substrate and have to learn theming all over again.

7.1b2:
Pros: Much less buggy than 7.0.4. The general consensus also seems to be that it is much faster than 7.0.4. iOS 7 so it will be supported and used to optimize apps and tweaks for much longer than iOS 6.1.4 counterpart.

Cons: It is a beta software - so it is by no means perfect. Will have to wait for mobile substrate and have to learn theming all over again. The biggest con I had with 7.1b2 was the expiration date - but that appears to be resolved.

This is basically the list of pros and cons that went through my head. The question for me was always 6.1.4 or 7.1b2. I never wanted 7.0.4 because it seemed like a beta release of 7.1b2 from what I observed everywhere. And once the expiration date was resolved, that sealed the deal on 7.1b2 for me.
