Just curious. Apple called this afternoon to tell me my computer was lost in a FedEx plane crash in Japan today. I had seen the crash on the news but had no idea my computer was on it. It was a very bad fiery crash. Both the pilots were killed in it. :(

My MBP was enroute from China to Japan and now shows an exception in Japan. I expect it was there but have not received any notification.

Had not seen the crash information until this evening.
Prayers to those that lost much more than a package.

That's odd because I thought Apple products came from Shanghai. From what I read of the story, the plane departed Guangzhou (located in South China) and went straight to Japan. Guangzhou and Shanghai aren't really close together. Unless the plane made a stop in Shanghai, which the news article never said, I don't get how your Apple product was shipped from Guangzhou and not Shanghai. Very bizarre and sad story.

That flight was between China and Japan.
I wonder why that flight had anything to do with Pennsylvania (your addy).

hmmmm I have ordered a few things from apple and they all have come from SUZHOU then to Anchorage AK then to newark NJ to worcester MA.

Sorry to see that story; blessings to the pilots' families.

As with your computer… meh.

I should have worded my original post better. I feel horrible for the families that lost loved ones in the crash and don't care about the computer. They already ordered a new one. The thing that actually promted this post is this was my 3rd replacement MBP. The first two had hardware problems and the third was the wrong model. It was matte and I ordered glossy. So the one Apple ordered today to replace the one lost will be my fourth replacement or my 5th MBP. I dunno. Maybe I am not meant to have one.

We really have a great community here. It makes me proud that we all are putting emphasis on the two poor FedEx pilots. God bless them.

The reason I say this is I've never seen an online forum with such kind, generous people. This is great, but this story is so terribly sad.

yea i lost mine

my new macbook pro was on that flight. I got a letter from Apple and my fed Ex tracking is the same flight from China to Japan.
I hate to fly. My thoughts go out to their families.

My thoughts go to the families of the pilots on the fedex plane, all those aboard the montana flight and lastly the 4 Oakland police officers who lost their lives. www.odmp.org

What shipping speed did you choose? If you chose standard shipping, then Fedex would have done the cheapest shipping method for them oppose to the most efficient. Also I believe, shipping hub for Fedex in China is in Guang Zhou which is why it went there first, much like Memphis is the shipping hub here in the United States. I don't think overnight and 2nd day are even options for shipments from China.

How often does Fed-Ex update their tracking information? My Macbook Pro shipped from Shanghai on March 23rd at 12.32 AM EST and nothing has been updated since.

Thats unfortunate for the people who lost their lives.

Has Apple informed you about your shipment?
