For my next AW, I think I will just get the wifi version. I realized despite originally planning that once I have an AW, I will leave my phone at home more, it is not the case. I am still with my phone almost all the time when I am out. So I kinda felt like it was such a waste getting a cellular version + the monthly.

Anyone else feel the same or am I the odd one out?

I would not pay for cellular myself, but I would still buy the cellular version and leave it deactivated. That way at least you can still use it to call 911 in an emergency. Admittedly I'm almost 50, so at additional risk of needing that emergency coverage.

That is certainly an option for the Alu watches.
Since the S4 came out I’ve only had watches with Sapphire screen and those all have cellular anyway. I have never activated cellular though as I always have my phone with me…

Yes I did that too but kind of a different situation, since I had the cellular version and I couldn’t activate for any reasonable amount of money or process, due to using Cricket cell service which doesn’t support the Watch. I’m still kind of annoyed about that since I think there are times when it’d be worth the $5/month that people seem to pay, (mostly for simple stuff like setting a timer using siri!), but also to your point about having your phone nearly all the time, I console myself with that knowledge since it wouldn’t really be a super frequent thing for me to need or want the cellular capability. So, now I have the Wifi only watch which on the bright side is about $100 cheaper!

Oh thanks for sharing guys. I wonder which sold more and if there are many who leave their phone due to having a watch.

I leave the phone at home if I’m going out for a run, but 99% of the time I have my phone with me anyway.

My next watch will likely be the Ultra, so it comes with cellular as default anyways. That said, I find I don't really have a need for it. The only time when I am without my phone is when I go jogging, and even then, I don't stream music or listen to podcasts. It's really just time for me and my thoughts.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I leave my phone at home all the time since I got the watch. I love having the cellular version. I got it for running, cycling & hiking, but find that it has really freed me from my phone. I still have it with me when I'm working, but most of the rest of the time, it sits on my desk or in my car. If I go into a store, go out with friends, work in the yard, whatever, I just have the watch.

I can see how people wouldn't use it, or not find it worth the $5 or $10/month that it costs, but for me, it helps me to use my phone less by while still keeping allowing me to stay reachable via phone & text message.

I bought non-cellular version intentionally as my first AW (alu S9). I knew I will not use cellular, so I don't miss it. I wanted to have the lightest version and not pay for an option I won't use. I never run with my phone and I want to be offline. Music in the ears is enough.
