Anyone else notice Apple Mail takes forever to load messages. When I go to my inbox, sent, deleted or any folder it takes forever for the messages to load so I can read them. It takes several minutes sometimes before I can read them. It also freezes and locks up and I have to shut it down and restart it. It is not my Internet as I have run speed tests and I an getting 25-27 Mbps speed. The webpages load instantly and mail works instantly on windows and Android devices. It does this on both my iPhone 5S and my iPad Air. I have noticed this has been happening for awhile now. Anyone else having same problem.

What type of email account is this? IMAP? POP? Exchange? Which profile did you select in iOS Settings when setting up the account? Have you tried deleting and re-adding the account? How about the usual troubleshooting steps of Reset or Restore, or Reset Network Settings?

My Gmail is not instant since Gmail no longer supports Active Sync for Push, but it loads a folder within seconds of me opening it, and it never freezes. Likewise Yahoo! mail is pretty quick, and my Exchange account is instant. Running 8.4 on iPhone 6+ and iPad Mini 2 BTW.

Mail loads fine for me, however I consistently have the spinning wheel in the top left of the app....like it's trying to connect/load. I only have 2 email accounts, Gmail (which refreshes manually) and an Exchange account. Push on the Exchange works fine, however when I disable Gmail from being shown in the app I still get the spinning wheel. Same when it's vice versa.

Cml-z, it is a hotmail account. I just selected the outlook option. I have deleted the account and re-added it a few times with the same result. Is there a better option I can pick to set up a hotmail account besides the outlook option?

No, Outlook ought to be the right profile. This could be an iOS issue, which you might be able to get around by setting the account up differently, say as an Exchange account though I'm not sure it still supports Active Sync. Poke around on how to set up Hotmail as Exchange, might be worth a try. You might also try a 3rd party mail app to see if you get better performance.

Looking around the internet this is nothing new, though it may be new to you. Hotmail and other email services are notorious for implementing things in a weird way, or making changes that cause problems (and not always all OS', which may explain why your Android seems to work fine).

For me it is, or appears to be 8.4.
GMail account using stock iOS mail settings (let the OS do the work). iPhone 6+ 64GB ATT / iMini 3 64GB ATT
I have multiple Gmail accounts (3), Outlook.com (1), Outlook Exchange Server (1), iCloud (1 - originally @me).
I have noticed that at times the "spinning wheel" keeps going and going and ... When this happens, any activity I do on my device (read, delete, archive, flag) may or may not actually update. I have gone in and deleted several, replied to a couple, flagged one only to see later that it is as if nothing was ever done. All emails are back to the original pre-work state. This does not happen to all accounts when I see this. Usually one or two are fine and the rest are fubar'd. This never affects the Exchange Sever account.
I saw this with a previous version of 8.x though I do not remember specifically what one.
FYI: whether I am on wifi or LTE, the same issue applies.

Same here when I use outlook.com I get the spinning wheel for about 20 seconds when I send an email.
