I probably got way too ahead of myself, but once I decided on the Apple Watch Sport in Space Gray a couple of weeks ago, I started looking outside of Apple for strap options.

I own a couple of IWCs, Panerai's and Rolexes and a custom straps for almost all of them, so I thought I would reach out to my custom strap maker (Greg Stevens Design) and see what he had that might work.

I decided on the strap below, except with a black PVD thumbnail buckle. Even after I purchase a strap adapter (personally going with Click although there are a couple other options), I'll be out just a hair over what Apple charges for its leather loop. A nice strap can last a decade so why not invest in something that isn't going to go in the drawer once the new iteration of the Apple Watch comes out in 1-2 years. Just my $0.02.

I will, but not for getting high quality, for getting cheap. I can't understand why an expensive band is worth it, so with my adapter I'll get either a cheap black leather option, or possibly a black Milanese I've seen on Amazon.

a few weeks after the watches are in peoples hands, I expect a flood of different bands to be available. by which time I'll know how I feel about the one(s) I ordered and whether I want to change them and order a 3rd party one

What adapters will be available to allow you to use those straps? I also want to buy a bunch of straps to use but how will they work?

I expect to see an official "Click" thread once people start getting them in their hands. Will probably wait until that before purchasing an adapter.

Digging all the brown leather choices though. Do you have anymore links to other good manufacturers of brown leather bands.

I am planning on ordering the strap below from Bas and Lokes.

Did you happen to see any of my posts? I'm going with B&L too, the Monaco which I'll pair with the Space Grey.

If you've never ordered one of their bands before, they're some of the best leather bands I've ever worn, it'll be a treat!

I backed Click :)

I first heard about bas and lokes after reading your post. Their straps look amazing.

I backed both click and adappt. Don't think adappt will reach its goal though.

Agree with adappt. I think Click is going to be a high quality and better thought out product (plus backers get a free band, now!)

I'm glad to have helped point you in a direction! Welcome to the good life 8)

I just backed Click because of this post. I tried to find out their Kickstarter about the free band, didn't see anything. I noticed if they reach $175K all backers get an extra set. If they reach $225, everyone gets a Click M adapter as the extra. What's the difference between the Click M and regular Click?

They announced free bands for all backers when they reached $100k. With only 6 days to go I doubt they'll reach $225k, $175k might be possible. Getting two Click M adapters will be nice though.

I just backed this, When the adapters are ready (if they ever happen) I assume they contact you so you can tell them what size and finish you decide on for your reward?

Yes they will email everyone a survey after the projected is funded. You will be able to choose the color (space gray/black or silver) and size (38mm or 42mm). Actual material of the adapter depends on the reward you chose.

looks nice but not needed since i loved sports band for everyday like 70% of time while ill use leather loop for functions and more formal things

You can design your own printed strap at Casetify. Use this link & get $10 off on your order: http://www.casetify.com/invite/ZFYU6U

In for a set of the M adapters and free band, thanks to the Macrumors member who found that KS project! :D

I ordered an out-of-production high quality replica of the true James Bond style NATO (but not really NATO, which is kind of the point) band from the movies. It's the band he would wear with his Rolex when going into the water, nylon, 9 strip, 3 color, full loop. I intend to modify it into a two-piece and mount it with the Click adapters from the relevant Kickstarter project.

It's what I'll be wearing to the theatre when SPECTRE comes out in November ;)

My strap is not the one pictured, but, very similar. I wasn't able to find the actual Corvus reproduction as it seems they've fallen off the face of the planet:

From this fun article about the band and the history of mistaken identity associated with it: http://rolexblog.blogspot.com/2009/07/real-james-bond-watchstrap-comes-to.html

I'd just wear it rolex-style laced over the pins and under the watch case if it wasn't for the HR sensors being blocked. Hopefully I'll be able to stitch or weld the nylon decently (or find someone who can) and get a nice two piece version going. It's actually surprisingly hard to find this actual style and color combination. I've seen a few 2-pieces that frustratingly have the wrong colors (bright red, and black instead of navy plus an almost yellow color instead of the olive)

But if anyone knows of a good 2-piece version already available, I'd be interested.

A tasteful carbon fiber looking band could be pretty slick on the black sport watch.

Greg makes great stuff! I remember when he first introduced himself on Paneristi and took the board by storm. That strap should look really nice with the SG (that's the one I'm getting too and I'm a Panerai collector from back in the late 90s) in think it will be interesting to see with a PAM buckle. Please post pics once you have it attached!

Greg is a master, good to hear a fellow 'risti is in the building. I got my strap in today, I'll throw up some pics when I get a chance.

Also, if you have been following the Click campaign, he has really started to ramp up in the last day or so, so I wouldn't be surprised if he hits all of his stretch goals. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for our adapters.

Ok thanks, yeah I got one where you can pick any material, size and color. Never backed a kick starter before so didn't know.

I may explore this route, too. Genius and cen believe I didn't think about that myself. First, my brown leather though :)

Click is at $146k only a little more to get a second sett of adapters for one!
