Actually, if some orange shows through with a black case, I think that would look pretty good. I recently bought a case for my black 17e specifically with orange outline and frame edges to add interesting contrast.

I was never really impressed by the appearance of the orange, even if I keep my phones in a case and its only the camera module that is visible. My wife only considered the silver 17 Pro and for me, I think that is the sleekest colour and most neutral. When you are no longer in your twenties, having the latest iPhone and making it obvious to others, is no longer a desire.

Orange is my favorite color— everything I can buy in orange, I do. I couldn’t pull the trigger on this one tho. Ended up with silver…

My regrets are on the move to aluminium on the Pros. I’ll keep my 15 Pro for another design generation. My Ultra titanium watch (OG) is nearly flawless as is my titanium iPhone.

Edit: to be clear, orange would have been my choice…

Cosmic orange will be my next iPhone if Apple continues the color when I replace my 13 PM. It’s a phone and will scratch and has no impact on my life. But then again I use my iPhone caseless and keep them for 5-7 years in mint condition with out stressing out or baby sitting. You live once, enjoy. Don’t let these minor things impact your life.

Don’t regret getting an Orange 17 Pro Max. Loved the color when I first saw it. Still love it. Wish Apple makes such nice, bright and beautiful colors for the Pro lineup too.

Absolutely. I want a phone that stands out when I can't remember where I put it. Cosmic Orange and clear case was the obvious iPhone to get. (I guess I could have got whatever was available along with a multicoloured case.)
I completely agree. Almost everyone I know has a black case on their phone. I don't get it. It makes it harder to find and easy to mix up with someone else's phone.

I went Deep Blue for my 17 Pro and have no regrets. My brother got the Cosmic Orange and still enjoys the colour. For me, the orange is too bright and I knew I'd tire of it.

So as a disclaimer, I suffer from OCD. So I tend to obsess/fixate on things that typically wouldn't be a huge deal to most "normal" people. That said, I had a 13 Pro Max when the 17s came out back in the fall. I had newer iPhones but sold them and bought a 13 PM on OfferUp that was brand new for $500 in December 2024 because I was trying to save money and not have phone payment.

I bought a Deep Blue 17 Pro Max with the intent of selling my 13 PM. The lightning port on my 13 Pro Max broke, so I paid $125 to have it fixed and returned my Deep Blue Pro Max. Not long after, the power button on my 13 PM broke on me. I decided it was time to finally upgrade for good. When I went back to the nearest Apple Store to me that had 17 PMs in stock, the only options were silver and orange. I went with the Cosmic Orange thinking silver was too bland/boring.

I'm now sick of the orange. I wish I had gotten silver. It goes with essentially any color case and I just feel like having an orange phone is kind of absurd lol. I know the argument is "put a case on it" but you still see a good portion of the back of the phone on the Pro models with most cases and you can still see it on mine (I have the Torras Q3 Air case).

I recently bought a 17 Pro in silver and was going to sell my orange 17 PM but then realized I couldn't go back to the smaller screen permanently. But now there is a 17 PM in silver in stock not too far from me and it's tempting not to buy it and sell my orange one. I got offers for $1100 for my orange 17 PM and a new one from the store would cost a little over $1300 after taxes here in NY. I'm not sure if it's worth paying over $200 to change the color of my phone or if I should just suck it up and wait to see what the new models are like in the fall.

Looking for some rational people's opinions here and just curious if anyone else felt the same about the Cosmic Orange after a while and ended up switching for a different color or even vice versa. I've just never been an orange guy...
still loving mine, cosmic orange 17PM launch day

It looks like they’re moving on to deep red.

If you can wait until after the 18 Pro is released you could probably get the orange 17 at a discount if your heart is truly set on that color.

Yes. I could but I upgrade every 5-7 years so I always get the latest pro max at that time. I am open to other colors. I may just skip iPhone 18 and go for 19 or 20 if my 13 PM keeps going strong.

I Had Red AW. I probably would have bought Red if they offered it for Pro Max.

While pre-ordering, I didn’t really like the blue option, so I had to choose between orange and silver. I was initially drawn to the orange because it was flashy and would stand out, but my wife strongly preferred the silver and convinced me to go with it.

I ended up pre-ordering the silver, and now, 7–8 months after launch, I feel like it was the right decision. The appeal of the orange would probably have faded within a month, whereas the silver still feels classy and timeless. It also pairs well with any case, making it much more versatile in the long run.

I’m currently using it with a JETech grey liquid silicone case, and I really like the combination.
