Really, if I was that guy who posted pics, I'd regret living in a Black and white world. Earth tones are in fashion this year, he should have gone for some color on his laptop, seeing how his house seems to be lacking in that department.

I say durability would be an issue. The 11/13 MBA's much thinner aluminum on the back of the screen make the display much more "flexible" than the thicker screens on the MBP's. If you stretched the 11 out to the edges, there would be quite a number of cracked screens.

Yeah I am serious. Going to class everyday, and seeing guys cramped on their 10" asus computers is a sad sight. You don't have to get a 17" but at least you won't look ridiculous and uncomfortable and cramped. I most often envision my good friend who uses his Dell 11.1" 700m...not a good match.
The car analogy would more accuratel be:
Guy in a smart car or mini cooper (macbook air 11") vs.
Guy in some kind of coupe (macbook air 13") vs.
Guy in four door (macbook pro 15")

If this were true, why do the 13"s have a smaller bezel relative to the size? I do agree that the 11" bezel is phat.

Not really. that's probably the most ridiculous claim. If thats the case, you should be carrying the 17in MBP with you at all time. don't worry about the weight. You're a man. You shouldn't whine. Just look down at your partner down under and smile.

Just got my 11in MBA and I love it. I can't believe how light it is! It's been my dream for a long time to have a computer so small I could easily slip it into a purse. The iPad never appealed to me, so I was very excited when this was announced and knew immediately that I wanted one. After using it for a few hours I feel confident that I made the right choice in buying it.
However it will be my 'travel' computer. For serious work I'll continue to use my MBP, with an external screen.

I used to think the 13" (revA-C) MBA was the ultimate travel machine and my favorite all time laptop.
This little 11" midget is fantastic. Lighter, faster, longer battery life, runs cooler. Other than the missing backlighting on the keyboard, this thing is super.
I expected to trade off some noticeable performance for the form factor and this thing feels incredibly snappy even running a Parallels VM.
The 13" feels significantly more mobile than a 13" MBP or MB and this 11" model is another significant step up in mobility. Hard to believe something with these specs and this size and weight can be so capable.

Ya, you're right. Its so girly when a man uses a little cell phone. Should use a manly sized bag phone. Maybe carry around an old style phone booth on his back. Thats what real men would do...
I think you have your priorities more than a little mixed up. Good luck w future relationships.
It's not dropping it is what I'm concerned about, it's the many times I've seen other students throw their Macbooks in their backpacks or messenger bags along with all the other 5-10 lb books!

Trust me, my priorities are fine...don't think that I seriously run from guys with small netbooks. haha. 🙄 yeesh.
I love the form factor of the MBA (13 or 11) and am even willing to swallow the stupid price but I just can use OSX every day.

I think there is a high probability that either an MBP or MBA would be damaged if dropped on a hard surface. As substantial and well made as both models are, they are not designed to stand up to abuse like Toughbooks. I have an eight year old Powerbook G4, which still looks new, as does my three year old MBP. I assure you, though, that neither has been dropped and unless I screw up big time, neither will be. I expect to get the same kind of longevity from my MBA.
Going from a 17-inch MBP to a 11.6-inch MBA is amazing. I carry my MBA everywhere, and my MBP hasn't been used in two weeks.
As it turns out the 11.6/1.6/4/128 runs Parallels with XP very well locally. I expected it to be able to run this but not run it so well and I'm impressed that such a tiny, lightweight machine with these specs can be so capable.
I think it actually is really simple.
The ones that still love their 11" MBA (including myself) are the ones that knew what they were getting into when they bought it and knew that it would fit a particular need.
However the ones that regret their purchase either just bought it for novelty or just wanted to try it out.
The 11" Air is a machine to buy when you know what you want from it.

I think this is mostly true. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that if you checked carefully, you'd find a large percentage of the 11" netbook owners were the same people RAVING about the iPad at its introduction and proclaiming how it was the perfect device, would make them sell their MBP's as being "too beastly" and how they would never buy a laptop again now that they had this magical device.
In other words, people who bought into the hype. Fanbois. Fangrls.
Its a machine. For certain users with limited or unique (and always personalized) needs, the machine is perfect. For others it is not. There is no silver bullet in personal computing. As sure as you may be certain that this device is PERFECT in every way, the next generation from either Apple or a competitor will prove you wrong and you'll be back proclaiming all the flaws of this generation.
Its cyclical.
